RATINGS & REVIEWS

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved my face I had this shield for more than a year and had no issues at all. I loved it. I just took a point blank deflected wrist shot right off the middle of it (hit nose area). The impact did push the shield into my face and cut my upper lip right through, but had I not had the shield I would have had a shattered nose. I also think I did not have it screwed in all the way, so the cut is probably my fault. As for the protection, I could not be more pleased. I had taken a few sticks off it and it had some scuffing, but this was the first puck. Other than the scuffs from sticks, this shield held up better than any other one I owned. I cannot stress how pleased I am at how well it took the impact from a puck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Sheild but bad coating I have been very happy with the protective qualitites of this sheild. I have taken two sticks and a puck to it and still have avoided serious injury as a result. However, the special coating began coming off within the first couple of uses and is now alost completely off. I have been using the Oakley spray so its not some problem with the solution. All in all though it is a good sheild.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than a sharp stick in the eye I bought the tinted shield and slapped it on the M11 helmet, I'm very happy with it so far. It takes the sharp bright white of the ice and makes it easier for me to pick up the puck. It also protects me from the occasional high stick intentional or not. It puts my mind at ease about getting that "sharp stick in the eys"... I would highly recommend this shield to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great look Been using this visor on my Bauer re-akt helmet for about a month now and it looks great on the medium helmet. I wish Oakley would put better instructions with the mounting hardware, I spent hours trying to figure out ow to attach the thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fog Free Baby! i love this visor. does not fog like other brands that you would buy because you have that brand of helmet.you can breathe on it in the rink and it will not fog up. seems to fit better than manufacturers visors too.

Is oakley certified spray the only cleaner that works well with this visor?

Would using just a normal anti fog visor cleaner affect this visor in a negative way?
Asked by: 1996MN
Oakley recommends their own spray due to the testing they've done on their solution vs. the coating on the visor. While it is not guaranteed that another spray will ruin the visor, introducing a different brand to the visor's coating could be harmful depending on the solution.

AFR Coating Coming Off

I noticed at my last game that the AFR Coating is starting to peel / flake off, will this weaken the shield at all? I have been using the oakley anti-fog solution only and I only use as needed I try not to use it I only use it when I notice it start to fog up. Sorry I know this is stupid question I have a feeling the answer is no it doesn't weaken it, but this is the first visor I've used and I would rather ask a stupid question than be pulling shards of visor out of my face. Is there an easy way to completely remove the AFR Coating, having it flake off in some spots can make it difficult to see I would rather just get it all off instead of having spots. Thanks
Asked by: RME88
The AFR should not lessen the structure of the shield, but you may want to give Oakley a call at 800-451-4600 to get some better answers.
