Good protection and performance but durability is questionable.

I used pants for most of my hockey playing life and tried to get the most protective pairs possible. I was skeptical going to a girdle and fearing I’d lose protection but I am happy to report that is not really the case. I have blocked many shots wearing this girdle and can say it feels to have fewer gaps in protection compared to pants. Since the padding sits directly on your body it doesn’t move and open up holes as much as normal pants can.
My issues are the stretchable materials used fray very easily and I am not sure how long it will be until the material rips apart (if it does). My other issue is the velcro that attaches the sides together on the front isn’t as comfortable or adjustable as lace in normal pants and the girdle is definitely lacking lower stomach protection here.
If you are a heavier set person I’d suggest trying these on before you buy as they are extremely tight fitting. I could stand to lose 10 pounds but by no means am a large person and it feels my size is already pushing the boundaries of an XL pair.
