Last year Easton debuted a brand new product line with their Mako skate. The focus of this skate was on pure speed and a maximum range of motion. This year, they have made advancements on that skate and are introducing the Mako M8! The M8 is second to only the Mako II in Easton's skate lineup allowing you to get top-level feel and features, without the top-of-the-line price! Like the Mako II, the quarter package is unique on the M8. It features an inside edge that is 5mm taller to provide extra support when cutting or cornering. The outside edge, being 5mm shorter, provides full extension and increased stride length. The pivoting 'Extendon' Tendon Guard allows the player to get the maximum amount of power out of every stride by allowing a full range of motion. When it comes to heat molding, there isn't a more responsive boot out there. These skates need more than DOUBLE the time of a standard skate baking, but it's worth it! In regard to the bottom portion of the skate, the CXN holders sit taller than a traditional holder, giving you more power out of every turn and stride, just like it's predecessor, the original Mako.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best skate I've used yet! I didn't expect to buy skates when I went into the shop a few months ago, but after kicking around the idea and looking at few different ones, the guy working suggested I try these out. I was never a huge fan of Easton before but was willing to try out about anything. Immediately after putting these on, I was impressed. The fit for my foot in these boots are perfect. I feel like I skate better in these, with the forward leaning tendancy really helping to keep me in a natural stride on the ice. The tendon protector rubbed a bit at first, but I haven't had any issue with it after the first few weeks. Great skate, and exactly what I would expect at that price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Surprise! I went into my Total Hockey store looking to drop big bucks on the Bauer Vapor APX2 skate. Thankfully the guy who helped me recommended the Easton M8 as a less expensive skate but better than what I had (Vapor 5.0). I have a few foot problems and normally stress about fit but these skates fit like a dream even before they were baked. I knew these were the ones before I had both of them on. They perform well and look super sharp on the ice. I'm a Bauer fan, but these Easton M8 skates are a great surprise. I would have never picked them up if it wasn't for the suggestion. Thanks Total Hockey!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mako M8 Awesome Skate!!! Just bought these at Total Hockey Glenview location and went straight to the ice rink without having them bake yet. Hands-down Easton out did themselves again with an AWESOME Product!!! They fit so well while I went through my decision process to choose the best skate for my flat and narrow feet. I just wanted to take them for a Test Drive and they did PERFORMED EXCELLENT!!! I can't wait until I go back to get them bake to my feet as these are a must try on Hockey Skate, before you buy your next ones. Thank You - Total Hockey!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mako 8 Review I have never felt this secure since my High School girlfriend. This skate hugs your foot and feels like it will never let you go. But don't think for one second that this skate is a pushover, I took a clapper off the foot and it felt like a fly had landed on me. Last but not least these bad boys are AGGRESSIVE, have you ever s

Rated 4 out of 5 by from M8 review Skates are comfortable and form quickly to feet. The stance is a bit more forward leaning than my bauer supremes. I'd recommend them to anyone. I've heard that they don't have as much protection as other skates but I've yet to experience that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor construction Bought these skates and have returned for refund. Holders attached to boot out of alignment on one. Difficult to get the tongue under the boot shell.

How durable are these skates? ive had a pair of easton skates fall apart after a month before. I play at 225 pounds and need a skate that will last

Asked by: bryce C
It's tough to give a blanket answer for a skate's durability, as many factors play a hand in the durability/eventual breakdown of a skate. However, you might find that a skate with a bit stiffer of a boot holds up better over time.

last 3 seasons I've worn Bauer Nexus 800's. my feet are regular width (slightly narrow) and they're swimming in the front half of the skate, up to the toe. I've read a lot of good things about the Mako M8. Is this a logical next skate or a downgrade?

Asked by: Knight81
The Nexus 800 and the M8 will be completely different skates with extremely different fits.

Can you put the light speed edge holders on these

Asked by: Bricks
Yes, but the holes will not line up. This will also void any warranty.

what is the difference between easton M8 and Mako 2 skates

My son loves his M8's and he had them all of last year but may need a bigger size. Is there a big difference between these 2 skates?
Asked by: Markus
The Mako II will have an upgraded boot liner and tongue material. It will also use a carbon composite boot construction as opposed to the glass composite boot construction in the M8. However, the feel and fit profile of these two skates will be the same.
