Bauer Nexus N7000 Jr. Hockey Skate

The Nexus N7000 is not the Nexus Skate of years past! The fit profile of the Nexus line got a makeover this year, with the heel, ankle, and forefoot being redesigned to provide a closer fit. Now, Nexus is still Bauer's volume fit, so those of you who love the extra room in the boot don't fret. The changes were made in an effort to improve heel lock and provide a more comprehensive fit profile.

The N7000 is constructed with a Tech mesh nylon quarter package that provides sufficient stiffness without being too heavy.  The interior of the skate is outfitted with a hydrophobic microfiber liner, and FORM FIT footbed, which combine to provide excellent moisture management, and supplemented heel lock ensuring a great balance between fit and volume. The return of Tuuk’s Lightspeed Edge Holder will be a familiar friend for many, but a marked improvement for those who aren’t accustomed to the extra 3mm of height and the improved angle of attack that it offers, but obviously the star of the show is the trigger system which allows you to switch out the stock stainless steel in a matter of seconds!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality. Fit like a glove Took my old Bauer Supremes to the antique road show. These new skates fit right when I put them on. After they were baked, they fit like a glove. Light and secure, took a puck off the toe.... felt some pressure and ringing, but this soon went away. Absolutely no aftermath when I left the ice 30mts later, when the Zamboni made its appearance. Feet felt great after my second 2 hour skate. I leave the top 2 eye lits undone and tie laces around the boot. This set-up may have to do with the size and width of my foot, along with how my instep and arch are configured. Yes, I have problems finding good running shoes. These skates are 100% comfort. This is important after my return to the ice after being gone for 25yrs. I'm sure the more expensive models offer some enhancements, but for my 3 hours a week at "public sweat" this is a great skate at a nice price point. You should also know I'm 5'9"and 215lbs. I, do, put equipment thru its paces....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good skates, good service Bought Nexus N7000 because I have wide feet. They arrived quickly and Bauer and Pure Hockey have stretched them because my feet are either 4E or 5E. I appreciate their help and hope they fit after break in because they provide very good support. Very good staff at both Bauer and Pure Hockey. Skates are a fair value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm back. I've been in these skates for almost a year, skating 1-3 hrs a week. Skates are holding up well, comfortable while on the ice. I may upgrade the foot pad insert if i can find one to fit at my next sharpening. I definitely believe I got a good bang for my buck. Although I was fortunate to play at a high level in college, my weekly cardio exercise certainly does not have the same demands. If I had to do it all over again, knowing what I know now, I would buy the same skates all over again.

How does the 2016 Nexus N7000 compare to the Nexus 7000 (the previous model)? (In terms of fit, stiffness, durability, liner etc.) The old model sells at at much higher price - more like the Nexus N8000. Rgds Jacob

Asked by: Jacob H
The new N7000 is a more entry-level price point skate in comparison to the Nexus 7000, which was one of the higher-end models from the past release. The Nexus 7000 will be stiffer and will have the HydraMax liner for moisture wicking, composite outsole, reinforced tongue, and many other upgrades. The N7000 would be geared toward less advanced skaters that do not need high-end performance from their skates.

Can these be baked?

Asked by: Josh F
The N7000 is not considered a thermoformable skate per Bauer's product catalog.

Owned a pair of supreme felt toe box was to small and toes were being pushed together would start to hurt bad would these skates be a better fit or was it the fact I was sized at 9 and told to go with 8.5

Asked by: Jth99
It could have been either situation. The Nexus will have a more traditional width and depth, whereas the Supreme has a more contoured fit. If you combine a contoured, anatomical fit with a size that is potentially too small, you could feel some discomfort like you described.

How do these skates compare to older models? I'm 6' tall and weigh 210lbs and I'm don't know if the n8000 would be a better fit or not. These will be used a few times a week for men's league play.

Asked by: Abest
The fit of these will be in keeping with other Nexus lines. In the N8000 you would get upgraded steel, liner and a higher quality tech-mesh quarter panel. The fit profile won't change between the two skates.
