Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great first skates These are a good option for a first pair of skates, especially on a budget or with a hesitant child. Solid construction and could even be used in a development setting (though definitely not beyond). The strap/buckle feature makes it a piece of cake for newbie parents, and just easy for people who have grown up in a rink. The buckle is certainly not the most secure, however, and can come undone with a hard tap or if it gets snagged, but this has only happened twice in many hours of use, and taping it would alleviate this problem altogether.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great beginner skate I bought these skates for my 2 year old as a first pair. great value and quality. Very easy to get on and off his feet. Perfect first pair of learning skates

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great starters These are great starters. They seem to support the ankle really well and he didn’t complain they hurt. They fit the same as toddler shoe size.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed with Bauer They are not skates. They are more like ski boots and they are very narrow

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Keep little ones in figure skates Our son is 4 years old and has been skating for about 5 months (1x/week). Shoe size 11.5 -12 and Bauer Lil Champ Ice Skate size 10 (measured electronically). We purchased these skates bc we were told he should learn to use the skate edges and not rely on the toe pick. What no one tells you is that the problem with hockey skates is that it's difficult for littles to get their balance bc unlike figure skates (FS), they move when you're standing still (if your weight shifts forwards or backwards you move in that direction and it really can throw kids off if they're used to FS). The blade is also a tad more narrow than FS, so that can cause balance issues too. This means littles can fall easier, more often, and become frustrated quickly. Also, we found the buckles on the Lil Champ Ice Hockey Skates easily flip over (instead of the orange-red on outside the black part is), making the skates difficult, if not impossible to tighten/adjust. Another reviewer hit the nail on the head - these are more like ski boots. They are difficult to get on/off (most littles could never do it themselves) and the inner liner comes out when they are taken off. Our son hated these and refused to wear them. Would these have been okay if he'd started out with them instead of FS? Maybe, but sadly, the on/off and buckle issues were too much to overcome.

Is there any double blade options for tiny toddlers? My son is 1 and he wears a toddler size 5. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Asked by: Jillian
We only carry single blade skates and our smallest size would be a 6.

I have a toddler (3 1/2 yrs old) and he is in a toddler 8-9 shoe. What I am seeing is youth so do you have a recommendation?

Asked by: Hollyhorsepower
This is a great skate for toddlers. Typically this model will run close to shoe size so I would get that 8/9 size.

my son's feet measures 10 and he is wearing shoes 10/10.5. when we tried these skates at a store the 8-9 seems a little small and 10-11 a bit big. what would u recommend? is it ok if it is big on his feet? the salesman at store recommended 8-9

Asked by: Mayssa
I would probably go with the 10-11 as he is still growing and this would allow for his foot to grow without you having to buy new skates so fast.

Hi there!, Well first of all my son just turned 2 years old July 16th and he wears a size 8 in shoes right now and what's the best size to go with 6-7 or 8-9? And what's the best brand to get and what should I go with equipment like as in pants etc...

Asked by: Caden2
These particular skates run true to shoe size, so I would recommend the 8-9.

Hello, I was looking for a first ice hockey skate for my soon to be 2 year old. He's size is 7 wide (toddler) . Would the blue Bauer lil champ be the skate to go with? Thanks, Ray

Asked by: Ray1
The smallest size we have is size 8-9 which would be true to shoe size 8-9. Youth skates are only available in regular width.
