Bauer Supreme S180 Hockey Skate

Bauer's Supreme S180 are the perfect skate for players who are really starting to get serious about their game. If you're ready to make the jump to more competitive hockey, it's worth taking a look at one of Bauer's most competitive skates.

One of the best values in hockey: The stiffness of a full Curv Composite boot without the top of the line price tag. Curv Composite is lighter, more durable, and more responsive to your stride. You'll notice the difference in stiffness and weight as soon as you put them on. Once you step on the ice and feel the improvements you won't want to take them off.

Holder and Runners

Tuuks Lightspeed Edge Holderis an industry staple, featuring a proprietary quick release trigger system for effortless blade changes and an an added 3mm of height for a more aggressive stance. Slotted into the Tuuks is Bauer LS2 Steel, which have set the standard for Bauer's steel for years.

Bauer's Hydra Max liner serves as the moisture management system in the Bauer Supreme S180 Junior Hockey Skate and does a great job in dispelling the buckets you'll sweat into them. The guts under the liner are composed with lightweight heat-modable memory foam pads, that combine with the FORM-FIT+ 40/32 oz 3 piece felt tongue to provide a supple and secure interior. Finally, the footbed is Bauer's FORM-FIT+ Model, which features stabilizing grip, moisture management, and an HD heel cup to unsure your feet are secure and comfortable from heel to toe.

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Skate. 1 Major Flaw. These skates are comfortable, light and good looking. I'd be skating on them now except for 1 major flaw. I have been playing hockey for 30 years; so please don't tell me that what I'm about to describe is "lace bite". After lacing up the skates and bending my knees into the skating position; an incredibly sharp pain pokes the top of my foot from the inside of the tongue. It is not lace bite as I've taken the laces out and held the tongue in place and then bent forward. The painful sharp poke is still there. The way I see it, Bauer decided to remove thickness from the foam tongue which results in the top "lace bite" guard, poking through to your foot. The next step up, the Supreme S190 with more thickness in the tongue, cost $200 more. Should I pay $200 for a more padded tongue????

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible durability I've had these for about 1 year, after Bauer did a warranty replacement for my then Supreme 180 skates. I miss those because the newer ones (these) have the worst padding interior around the ankles. They wore down within the first 5 months i had them, and now my ankles rub hard on the inside ankle area, especially if i'm making hard stops or turns. The top inner eyelet area is worn through to the "foam" if that's what they think that is. Cheap skate in terms of durability, compares to a s170 or even the s160. Don't even bother with this skate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I agree with JPSkates I needed new skates, been skating and playing hockey for 50years. Tried these on and left boot was like a glove, the right boot tongue was a disaster. Felt like lace bite but worse. I smashed the tounge and flexed it and no way. I tried on a S190 and like butter... They made a S180 with different tongue, quarter and tuuk runner called the Ignite Pro+, its the same price as the S180's or within $50.00. Not all stores carry them but they are a super boot for the money. Cheers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All you need in a skate! This skate is honestly as good as the top of the line. Yes the s190 and 1s are better boots, but if you prefer a simpler skate this is perfect. The curv composite boot gives it superb stability and its heat moldability is outstanding. I added the speedplates and the fit is perfect. I used the 3d foot scanner to get the perfect fit. Only thing is an upgraded lace bite guard would do this skate a great justice but that comes on the 190.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for a rock solid skate The 180 is the perfect balance of elite performance and price. 190 has a couple extra options but not worth the $200 extra. The 170 has significant reductions in the boot's structural integrity which you'll feel immediately when comparing products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lace Bite Playing hockey for over 40 years and have mostly used Bauer skates. Wanted to upgrade to Supreme. These skates have nine eyelettes while my old Vapors have ten. Doesn't sound like much of a difference but the top eyelette sits lower and the skates don't feel secured with this lower profile. Got lace bite so severe after two games that I donated the skates to a youth hockey organization.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price Point I upgraded to these after 9 years in Vapor XXXXs. The fit is very similar. The blades are slights longer than what I had before in the same size, which took about one practice to get the feel. They come with a lot of the high-end features, like the composite boot, without jumping up another $230 to get the S190. They were immediately comfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Painful Tongues I’ve had these for over a season now and like others have noted the pain over the instep has become unbearable in my right foot. Bummer that a cheap piece of felt is the downfall of an otherwise great $400+ skate. I don’t have a problem with durability, but I might eventually have to replace them because of the tongue. And I agree with others that it’s not lace bite. It’s from leaning into the skate and not enough cushion between the rock hard lace bite guard and your foot.

Deciding between these and ribcor 68k which is more bang for your buck?

Asked by: Bleep bleep
Really comes down to what fits your foot the best as these two skates will offer different fit aspects. I personally think the S180 would give you a better performing skate due to the composite boot. All comes down to what fits your foot the best. Thanks!
