The Bauer Vapor family has always been a top seller. The Vapor 1X hockey skate is the next evolution of Bauer's greatest technologies, whether they are brand new, or updates to existing technologies. New features include Bauer's Speed Plate Technology, LS4 Steel, 37.5 Liner, and an updated version of the X-Rib Curv Composite Boot, which has been aluminized. Bauer introduces some of its industry-leading technology that has been teased in the Bauer OD1N Project. The first benefit we find from the OD1N project is right here in the boot of the Vapor 1X. Carrying over from the APX2 is the TUUK Lightspeed Edge Holder.

Vapor 1X Skate Features

Our first glimpse at the OD1N Technology comes into play with the Vapor 1X boot. The boot itself not only features a tweaked X-Rib molding pattern, but it also features an Aluminized Curv Composite that, because of the aluminum layer, is now the lightest boot Bauer has offered! The X-Rib pattern has always been designed to maximize support and stability and has now been tweaked to better lock your heel and ankle in place. Improved heel and ankle lock allow you to turn even tighter and crossover quicker for better acceleration.

A feature returning with an update is the Injected Stability Lacing System. The version youll see on the Vapor 1X hockey skate has been given more of a taper to better wrap around the forefoot to improve hold and minimize foot movement within the skate.

One of the bigger changes from last year's APX2 is the new LS4 steel taking the place of LS Fusion steel. LS4 Runners come stock with the same familiar radius found on LS2 and LS Fusion, but with 3 mm of additional height. Feedback from their Pro athletes saying that elite-level players are looking for a taller, higher quality steel that will hold an edge better and provide a greater attack angle spurred this switch. The added height also improves the longevity of the runner and allows players to customize the profile without significantly diminishing the sharpening life. LS4 was designed to fit all those parameters.

Finally, the 37.5 Liner that has been featured in Bauer's latest protective gear has made its way to the Vapor 1X hockey skates. This liner won't move moisture away from the foot, it will evaporate the moisture, keeping you dry all skate long! A drier skate liner holds your foot better, giving you more control of the skate.

Bauer Speed Plate

Bauer plans to change the footbed game this year by introducing their brand new Speed Plate Technology. The Bauer Speed Plate is made from a recovery alloy technology that allows it to be heat-molded to the foot of the skater and the inside of the skate, making for unparalleled customization. Because the Speed Plate molds to your exact foot shape feel for the ice is at an all-time high. The Speed Plate keeps your center of balance right over the blade through all phases of the stride, giving you unprecedented balance, agility and control of your edges. As soon as you step onto the ice, youll feel the increase in balance and control. In regards to the Bauer Vapor 1X, the future is here. Order today to experience the evolution and become a difference maker!

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bauer Blunder! I bought the skates at the end of January 2016. They are a great skate as far as their performance, I would give five stars for that. The problem is how the eyelets for the laces are made. They break and because it is a molded plastic there is no way of repairing them, except to send them to Bauer repair in Canada.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Light! High Quality! I bought these about two months ago and I'm absolutely in love with them. They are so light weight and so comfortable. Additionally, you can really feel the ice and it makes all movement really smoothe. Transitions are seemless and the skates are really durable so far. Hardly a nick in them and I play 4-5 times a week! Not to mention these are the nicest looking skates in my opinion. More than satisfied!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great skate This is my 1st high end skate purchase. I have played on them 3 times and now that I am used to the minor changes coming from the Surpreme line I love these skates. Comfortable immediately, lightweight, stiff boot, great tongue with anti-lace bite feature, s4 steels are definitely taller and hold an edge. The moldable speedplate insert is also a real difference maker in comfort and performance. Coupled with my use of adrenaline's powerfoot insert in the toe cap and these skates have a tremendous "connected" feel between my foot, the skate and the ice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best skates I've ever worn I've been wearing these now for almost a year and they get more and more comfortable all the time. The LS4 steel on these does seem to keep an edge longer, but the pair the skates came with broke right away. I used the LS3 blades for a while, and just recently got the replacement LS4s again. I am hoping they last longer this time as I do feel they stay sharper longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing So, this is my first set of new skates in about 12 years. The difference in support, weight, balance, and quality was immediately evident. These babies fly. I was a little hesitant regarding the speed plates and ended getting them reheated and fitted again. I've been skating on the Vapor line for 20 years and these did not disappoint in any aspect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great skate & deal on 2015's I jumped on these when the 2015's were dropped to $629. I've worn Supremes for 20+ years but decided to try these Vapors due to the good deal. Baked the boots & foot beds once, skated around at practice with the kids with the most pain coming from my arch. Re-baked the foot bed giving me grief and played a game last night. While they aren't "comfy like a glove" yet, I had no discernible pain and the performance was on point. They're a much stiffer skate than anything I've ever had so that will take some getting used to in addition to figuring out how tight I want to lace them up. Overall I'm very pleased, although if the Supreme 1s's were the same price, I probably would've ordered those too and kept the pair that fit best. I'm hopeful I don't experience any of the quality issues I've seen. Time will tell.

Is the 2015 version worth buying or is the 2017 version much superior? My son is a lower tier squirt travel player and I don't want to pay an unnecessarily high amount.

My 13yo will be going into his 2nd season on a travel team. This was his first year ever skating. He plays center and currently skates the Bauer Vapor x400 but he’s outgrown them. Would this be a good next skate for him?

Asked by: Meghan
The 1X would be a great skate for someone who plays travel hockey!

How tall is the LS4 steel.

Asked by: 28sfes
The LS4 steel is a combo of the LS3 and the LS2. The LS4 will have the taller height of the LS3 and the profile of the LS2. I do not have an exact height but the taller blade will help with your attack angle. Thanks!

Width in the forefoot

Are these a little wider in the forefoot than a supreme? I know that vapor skates have a tapered fit, but I'm not sure how the width in the forefoot compares to a supreme.
Asked by: GoMNWild
The forefoot will be slightly wider than that of the Supreme line. The Supreme line contours to the anatomical shape of the foot, whereas the vapor has a bit more of a wedge shape -- starting narrow in the heal and expanding through the forefoot. This doesn't necessarily make the Vapor a "Wider" skate, the forefoot is simply the widest portion of the Vapor line.
