Bauer incorporates many of their top technologies in to the Flylite Youth stick, including the all new XE Taper. With a unique elliptical geometry, this updated taper design provides more stability in the blade, a softer area in the hosel, and a reduced overall weight. With these benefits, young players will be able to increase puck control and release speed, giving them more confidence as they develop their shots. 

For the shaft, Bauer includes the DuraFlex resin system. This performance resin increases the entire shaft’s durability and flexural strength, allowing youth players to lean more heavily into their shots. 

The Flylite Youth blade features both Advanced Carbon Layering and the AERO-SENSE 2 core. ACL technology uses thin carbon fiber layers to offer a stronger construction while keeping the blade lightweight. And AERO-SENSE 2 provides a thicker blade geometry to improve durability without sacrificing performance, giving more pop to every shot. 

While the Flylite Youth hockey stick includes many of the same technologies as the Flylite senior model, it still must be adjusted to fit the young player. Bauer has made the youth model a 30-Flex, making it easier to bend the stick when shooting. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Super lite stick but.... .... It's much longer than all other youth sticks. So by the time you cut it down by roughly 6" it will completely alter the flex.

How much can be cut off before it alters the flex?

The stick is going to get stiffer if you cut the shaft. There isn't a stick that will remain the same flex after it's been cut. Some sticks would make their shafts slightly softer to account for the sticks being cut. Thanks!
