The Bauer Vapor X500 ice hockey skate comes close to the elusive sweet spot of high performance and affordability, attractive to intermediate performance-level skaters looking to enjoy a little bling without emptying their wallets. But the significant upgrades in the X500 aren’t just bells and whistles. Instead, improvements over the X400 add value to this mid-line Bauer offering by increasing the skate’s wearability and durability.

  • Injected TPR outsole with indentation for better energy transfer
  • TrueForm Tech PU quarter with X-rib design for superior support, stiffness, and longevity
  • AnaForm ankle pads for form-fitting support and comfort
  • Hydrophobic microfiber liner for dry comfort
  • Tuuk Edge holder for trigger-quick blade replacement

The outsole in the X500 is an injected TPR with an indentation down the center for increased stiffness and a more efficient transfer of energy. The outsole is connected to the TrueForm Tech PU quarter package. The TrueForm offers a substantial increase in stiffness over the X400 model, and it is fully thermoformable—the internal foams and the outer shell will mold to the foot when baked, for a customized fit and feel, and maximum comfort.

The quarter package also features Vapor’s signature X-rib design on the rear of the boot, adding more support and stability for a more comfortable and powerful stride. Finally, the X500 comes with Vapor’s one-piece heel and ankle core that works in conjunction with the X-rib for a longer lasting, higher performing boot.

The tongue in this year’s X500 is a 40-ounce, two-piece white felt tongue with high-density injected center foams, providing excellent protection on the top of the foot against stray pucks and slashes. It’s especially useful in low-volume skates like the Vapors because the inserts offer additional protection against lace bite. The X500 skate interior features AnaForm ankle pads that are soft to the touch and form-fitting when baked. The liner is a hydrophobic microfiber that does a great job wicking moisture and sweat from the foot for dry comfort. The footbed in the X500 is a standard EVA foam bed that provides some nice cushion in the interior.

One of the best upgrades to the X500 is the Tuuk Edge holder. The Tuuk holder has been the most popular blade holder in the NHL in recent years, thanks to its innovative trigger system, allowing skaters to change damaged or worn steel in seconds for more time on the ice and less time on the bench. The holder is also taller, so skaters can get further over their Tuuk stainless steel runner edges.

The Bauer Vapor X500 offers performance-level intermediate skaters plenty of performance features. The popular Tuuk Edge holder and thermoformable materials will attract skaters looking for the best skate with high-performance features at an affordable price.

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bauer x500 Ice Skates I finally convinced myself to buy new skates after 11 years (I had Easton Stealth S7s) and couldn't have been more satisfied! I was so nervous that it would take forever to get used to the new ones but I was completely wrong! I played in a tournament with them after skating in them only once and they felt completely comfortable and I definitely felt like I could skate faster. The skates are light and fit perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great so far So far I love these skates. I tried supremes but the vapors just fit my feet better. Better liners and support unlike supremes that wrecked my feet. I almost switched to ccm but glad I just went back to vapors instead of supremes. I'll post another review on durability later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They are super light and increased my by a lot Great skates. Recommend to all people with narrow feet. They are super light and increase your speed due to the weight loss.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great skates! I got these a few weeks ago and after my second skate they are super comfortable. Locks in my heel really well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Skate I hae had these skates for the last three months and I am pretty satisfied with them. The boot ot the skate is nice and snug and my ankles never move thanks to the padding around the ankle area. My only complaint is the blades of the skate. The stainless steel blades seem to rust easier then I expected. They also seem to need sharpened more and more. the edges dull out a little too quickly but they work surprisingly well, so just a forewarning. Its a good skate, just be prepared to sharpen then a little more often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purchased for 12 year old son Went from CCM Ribcor (which he absolutely obliterated) to these. They fit his feet well right out of the box, so I've yet to bake them. Break-in took a good 5 to 10 hour-long skates. He skates hard, plays house league, stick and puck 3 times a week, and open skate 3 or 4 times a week...so he's always on the ice. He adores these skates, loves them with a 3/8" cut. While we've only had them a month, they seem solid so far. Can't beat the price for the Tuuk blade holder/removable runners.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent skate for the price This is my first go at a Bauer skate. I came from an old school Reebok 7K skate that I broke 2 holders on within a few games. Its almost impossible to find the 280mm holder I needed so I decided to just get new skates. Went to the location in Cherry Hill, NJ. They guy that helped me out measured me and made a few suggestions. I tried on the Supreme, the Vapor, and a Ribcore. The Vapors felt the best out of the box. They baked them and cut them for me at purchase. 1st time using them was for one of my beer league games. That was a rough game as they were extremely stiff. My feet hurt after the first skate. I have skated on them twice since and they are starting to feel a lot better. I feel I can turn, stop and accelerate better with these than my Reeboks. So far they are holding up well, the steel is still nice and sharp with my 9/16th cut they bite just right for me. I am happy with my purchase at this point. It doesn't hurt I used $40 in rewards points towards this purchase as well. My team uses this store quite often and they always seem to have a good experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, fast, responsive Bought these 3 weeks ago. Skated 5 times to break them in and played hockey in a pickup game today. It took a couple of skates to get used to them. They fit good and I find they are much lighter and I skate faster than my old skates (that I skated on for 42 years). I tried on a number of models and brands and these were the right choice.
