Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than anything else I love to see all the reviews like "can't drink through it, not tight enough, can't breath...". Guess what, you're playing hockey with a mask on your face, it's not going to feel like a normal game... I played with "non-hockey masks" and it was awful, felt like drowning once the mask got wet. This one stays away from your mouth, and you can actually breath fine. Yes, it's not ultra tight on the sides, and if you have a big nose, it's not very comfortable. But it does the trick and you can play with it without dying for air.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Comfortable It's a pretty thick neoprene-like material, so I wasn't sure how easy it would be to breathe on the ice, but I didn't have any issues! This is probably because there is a bit of space between my face and the mask, since it's attached to the cage. Not sure how much "protection" it gives compared to a facemask, but it's better than nothing. Glad they put flexible metal over the nose! It really helped with visibility. I didn't seem to have an issue with the mask getting in the way. I do wish the velcro attachments were a little thinner though, for ease of weaving them through the cage. It was getting pretty stinky by the end of the game too - so you'll probably want to wash or sanitize it regularly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than a mask, less protection I purchased these for my kids at home, after trying a few practices I have one child that removed and one that kept it installed. It really depends on preference from what I can tell. I will note, it's not a mask, it doesn't fit like a mask you would wear daily. I understand this as offering not as much protection. As a coach, I see kids struggle utilizing mask so whatever they are comfortable with and adds as much protection as possible, go with it. While understandable, these aren't returnable, start with a mask before you dive in here. For me $80 later for 4 faces really hit the pocket book compared to a simple option of a mask..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality I bought two of these for my sons. The one already has the velcro separating from the strap just from the initial installation. I can't imagine it holding out long before it completely detaches. Also, you definatly lose some vision of the puck in your feet when wearing. At this point I would probably just opt for a regular cloth mask inside the cage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great idea, doesn’t execute well. We own a CCM and two Bauer helmets. I bought both sizes of these masks. The OSFM mask worked best in our oldest Bauer cage and with a bit more work on my part, can probably be adjusted for a tight fit. The junior mask completely fails on our S/P Bauer Profile gapping at both sides (but at least you can secure it) and is the worst on the CCM FL M cage, where you cannot adequate adjust the bottom strap. Very disappointed that for $20, the junior size mask can’t be used on our CCM product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product and easy to use. During this time of being cautious but still wanting to play the game, I first tried a cloth mask. As another reviewer said, "It felt like waterboarding after 15 minutes." I agree. I saw this mask on the web site and figured "Why not give it a try." I'm very happy with the mask and it's coverage. It does not limit sight and makes me feel safer on the bench. It's not close up so it's easy to breathe. The only reason for not giving it five stars is that you have to be really clear when talking and you have to undo the shield to take a drink. (Not a big problem) Nice product!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It’s a mask on your face. If you have a full face cage get one of these. The mask sits on your nose but for the most part is off of your face due to attaching to the cage on the bottom. Best option I’ve tried since told we have to wear them while playing. Don’t kid yourself though, it’s a mask on your face while playing hockey. So yeah, it sucks. Material is more like neoprene that anything else. Time will tell how the velcro holds up. I just leave it in my cage. Put it behind your chin cup, if it’s directly on your face you won’t be able to breathe at all.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good idea, just too thick I love the idea of this mask. It fits my son's CCM face shield perfectly and there are no fogging issues. However, the material that the mask is made out of is thick neoprene material (like a wetsuit) that doesn't breathe at all. I like knowing that nothing is getting through the mask (that's the point, right?), but I feel like it could be made with a material more geared to physical activity. My son tried it out for two practices and he won't wear it again.

Daughter has bauer helmet with chin cup strap woven through front cage preventing the mask from going between the cup and the cage. the strap appears to be fastened with some sort of plastic rivets on the side. Can i pull those rivets apart and re-weave

Asked by: JS69
You may need to undo the chin strap that's woven through the cage so you can attach the mask. This has been something we've had to do for some other customers. You shouldn't have to undo any rivets. If you need more help please send pictures to [email protected] Thanks!

Is this approved by HECC ? They just released a statement saying anything attached to the helmet voids the certification? Is this exempt or approved?

Asked by: Al R
At this time it is up to each organization if they will allow the players to wear the mask and my differ from between leagues.

can it be used for street hockey

Asked by: Mart11
This would need to attach to a helmet with a cage on it. As long as you plan to wear a helmet/cage while you play you should be good to go! Thank you

How does this work with the existing chin guard? I can’t find a place to attach the bottom Velcro because the chin guard is in the way and the chin guard is too loose when I try to put it under.

Asked by: RebeccaT
This mask will sit between the chin cup and the bars of the cage. Most chin cups are attached by rivets on the sides of the cup but some chin cups have the chin strap woven through and that can make this a little harder. You just take the chin strap out, attach the mask and then add the chin strap/cup back on. If you want more specific/detailed help based on your mask please email our customer service team. Thanks!
