When deciding on a new pair of hockey skates, your focus should be on fit. If you’re unsure which skate line fits your foot best, or you’re looking for an accurate measurement, visit your local Pure Hockey. CCM’s Ribcor line is their high profile skate, best suited for those with a lower volume foot. But CCM has placed a focus on providing a flexible boot in the Ribcor 80K, which makes this new skate an excellent option for players with many different foot dimensions.

To create this flexible boot, CCM uses a 3-D lasted composite quarter package and their innovative Flexframe technology. This new feature was developed based on industry leading biomechanics research conducted with NHL players to provide excellent forward flexion to help players generate more power and lateral stability. The variable stiffness of the boot helps to maximize energy with every stride, ideal for the elite players who are looking to gain the extra edge every time they step on the ice.

Attached to the boot, the Ribcor 80K skate includes CCM’s new Speedblade Xchange System holder. The Speedblade XS uses BladeLock technology to switch out a broken blade quickly and efficiently. Simply roll the BladeLock dial until you feel resistance, then pull the damaged blade out. Replace your runner and turn back the dial to fully lock in the new blade. Once you complete this easy process, you’re ready to get back on the ice. And because the blade is tightly secured in this positive-lock mechanism, energy from the boot to the blade is maximized with every stride.

The runner CCM attaches to their new holder is the top-end Speedblade XS1 Black. This premium oxide-treated blade offers a longer edge life, higher resistance to corrosion, and features 12% more height than standard blades, resulting in better turns and overall performance.

Inside the 80K boot, CCM uses many high-end technologies to give you excellent comfort and protection. Their ADPT memory foam ankle pads are symmetrical foam which wrap anatomically around your foot for a customized fit and ultimate comfort. Around the collar of the boot, the Smooth Contour Pro comfort pad offers even more ankle and foot comfort. And for the liner, CCM includes their TotalDri Pro+ with Durazone abrasion protection. This high-performing, moisture-wicking material keeps your feet dry and skates light throughout the game.

For an enhanced fit, the Ribcor 80K includes the CCM Orthomove footbed. This technology offers comfortable material where your foot meets the padding. And where the footbed meets the bottom of the boot, a rigid base is included to help promote power with every stride without sacrificing that superior comfort. The Orthomove also includes customized inserts that allow you to adjust the fit of your skate based on the arch support you want and need.

The 80K model also features a lightweight composite midsole for enhanced energy transfer, an extra stiff carbon composite outsole with exhaust system for torsional rigidity, and CCM’s Tritech Pro tongue - a three-layered, 7mm black felt tongue with HDPE foam and an injected lace-bite prevention zone for ultimate comfort and protection at the top of the skate.

With a plethora of top innovations, the new Ribcor 80K skates are constructed for elite-level players who skate 4-5+ times per week and want skates that will offer them all the performance features they need to play their best.

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing skate with an amazing fit. I've been skating with foot pain for years... the worst spot being across the top of my foot. Medium-high instep, with everything else pretty normal. Went to a Pure Hockey store and tried on every model of top skate from Bauer and CCM. I kept coming back to the CCM 80k. Very comfortable skate, while not sacrificing in support. I've had two games since purchase and both have been pain free. This might be the one! ... and even if it isn't for me, I bet the vast majority of skate buyers would fit in these better than a-lot of the other models. Other than using Crosby's name, CCM doesn't do this skate justice with its marketing. Size 9.5 shoe - 7.5 in the 80k. Toe touches front while standing but backs off once in a hockey stance. If shopping in the top tier, but not custom, try these on and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ribcor 80K Skates - Highly Recommended Purchased these about 30 days ago and have put about 8 total hours on them. They were a little tight my first session but felt virtually fully broken in the 2nd time I skated on (baked of course). Very comfortable. I was a little worried (or interested I guess) in the new steel set up and higher steel by 2mm. No issue here, extra height definitely helps cornering and steel coating is helping to hold edges very well (so far atleast). I have medium arches but didn't use any of the custom arch supports as it seems by default he ribcor offers good arch support. If you like skates that are tight around your feet and very stiff, I wouldn't go with these as they offer a little more flexibility than other CCM lines. My friend ended up purchasing the 70ks on clearance right after my purchase. Not a ton of different but definitely some better finishing on the 80ks. About the only thing I hate is that I have 9.5 size skates and they gave me laces that could fit a size 12 skate. CCM please stop cheaping out and only keeping 3 lengths of laces around.... Lastly, I find it bizarre that my Pure Hockey location in St. Louis choose not to stock the 80k considering it seems to be a very good high end skate that is a good fit for a larger variety of skating/foot types than the FT2s. Also, they have a huge banner ad in store for the 80ks but don't stock....strange.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from he says they're good Bought for grandson out of state, no idea, he says they're good, so that's all I have for you. I spend a lot of time researching these products I purchase from you, always got the quality out of the CCM gear I've purchase in the past, so I have high expectations for these skates also, boot details found great, great holders and runners, what could go wrong, sorry, don't have personal details for a rating

I’m a 9.5-10 shoe and currently in a size 7.5 EE Tacks skate. I have no issues with my skates when it comes to pain, but I’m wondering could I upgrade to these 80k Ribcor Skates? Seems like it’s saying wide feet can still work with Ribcor.

Asked by: Dave Young
While there is no way to be 100% sure on if a skate would fit unless we could fit you in person I do believe a EE Ribcor would fit you too. The best part about ordering with Pure Hockey is you can return these if you don't like the fit. You can even return them if you wear them on the ice and don't like them as long as they are returned within 30 days of buying them. Thanks!

Am I reading this correctly? Ribcore is a high volume fit now? I was under the impression it was Nexus or nothing for us high instep/wide forefoot guys.

Asked by: BigCat
That line has been corrected. These fit a lower volume foot but have the ability to mold to other foot shapes(to an extent) due to the more flexible boot. Thanks!
