Last year Easton debuted a brand new product line with their Mako skate. The focus of this skate was on pure speed and a maximum range of motion. This year, they have made advancements on that skate and are introducing the Mako II Ice Skates! The quarter package is unique on the Mako II ice skates, featuring an inside edge that is 5mm taller to provide extra support when cutting or cornering. The outside edge, being 5mm shorter, provides full extension and increased stride frequency. The pivoting Extendon Tendon Guard allows the player to get the maximum amount of power out of their stride by allowing a full range of motion. When it comes to heat molding, there isn't a more responsive boot out there. These skates need more than DOUBLE the time of a standard skate baking, but it's worth it when they fit like a glove afterwards! On the bottom portion of the skate you will find Easton's CXN holder and ES4 Staniless Steel. The CXN holder sit taller than a traditional holder, giving you more power out of every turn, and the ES4 Steel comes with a 9' radius on it. The Mako was a revolution in the world of hockey skates. The Easton Mako II Ice Skates have taken that revolution, and improved on nearly every aspect!

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome skate I've had these skates for 2 months and absolutely hands down best skate on the market. These skates only took 5 mins to adjust to the down pitch but now I love it and wouldn't go back to all the more traditional attack angles. I recommend everyone to try this skate on at least once in their lifes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very comfortable, easy adapt I'm 55yo and these were the easiest skates to brake in I've ever had. They are lightweight and are not as stiff as most new skates. The boot has a slight forward pitch and has helped with more aggressive skating. The boot has a wrap around effect and while aiding in comfort can be difficult to insert laces and I've gone through several because the aglets shred . The wrap effect also occasionally irritates my upper ankle if I lace the top too tight. So far durability seems good, but I've only had them 6 months. Have absorbed several hard shots without problem. Need special key that comes with skates to remove blade screws. Would have definitely preferred if Easton designed it with standard blade screws. Overall , I am very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing fit Prior to these skates I had pro stock mx3's and they were very comfortable and performed well but broke down too soon. When I went to get my new pair of mx3's these caught my eye and I decided to try them on and was I astonished! I have never had a pair of skates fit that comfortably and perform that well in 10 years of playing hockey. I had light speed edge holders put on them with ls3 steel and the turning radius is unbelievable, and the boot is very strong and soft as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mako II I got the opportunity to test these skates for nearly nothing, but from what I experienced they seemed pretty good, very light and comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hands down most comfortable skate I've ever worn By far the most comfortable skates I have ever worn. I came from an old pair of Bauer XXXX's which gave me the infamous bauer bump. I hesitated trying these on because I was not thrilled with the look but I'm glad I did. After baking they mold to your foot shape like no other skate. I skate 3 times per week and have been wearing them for two months with no discomfort. They are not as stiff as other top on the line boots and the holders/runners do give you a forward pitch that takes some getting used to. The tongue is very comfortable and has a grip texture in the middle that holds the laces well. However it is not as protective as the tongue on my bauers. Took a slapshot the other week and my foot was numb for a good while. Also have to keep tightening the runners or else they click. I would not have paid full price for these but with the sale price they were well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mako II feet weapons Well, i guess if your mother pays for your skates, she is allowed to review them...even if THEY WERE NEVER ON HER FEET. Mom, meet grain of salt. I broke the chassis on my EQ50s on Sunday night in a game. Monday at 5pm after work i was on Totalhockey.com buying the Mako IIs. Tuesday at 9:59am they were sitting at my front door. Amazing. I take them out of the box. Oh no, they look way too small. They will never fit. Hold them up to my foot. I dont know. They are so light. Did I buy Junior Skates by accident. I attempt to get my foot in one. It is a struggle. The boot is so stiff and it feels way too small. I put my foot on an angle and get past the tongue and eyelets. POP! My foot sinks into heaven. Barefoot is the way to go. ZERO negative space. This skate ATE my foot. Every inch, from ankle to toe is awash with soft lining and plush internal cushioning. Feels like HEAVEN. I have been wearing them around the house now for 45 mins. Yes, walking around in skate guards. Incredible how much comfort is inside these skates. They feel like bedroom slippers. I now see the directions for baking them. I think for a bit. I know that internal temps will rise with use, and they will set themselves with time. Do I really want to bake them and break them down faster in exchange for them fitting even better now? Can I afford to break them in slowly over time and possibly get more use out of them in the long run. These skates are designed to be baked. Hrmm....decisions, decisions. I have a game Thursday night. My new custom combination runners will be here from New Hampshire sometime this afternoon. I think I will wear them without baking them and see what happens. I will let you know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit Such a shame these are discontinued, I'm going to have to buy an extra pair for when mine wear out. I have a very wide foot and there is a myth out there that these are narrow. It's bunk. They MUST be baked, as they are designed to change shape in the baking process more than any other skate. Once you bake them they fit like socks. But please don't buy them if you wear a 12 though, save some for me!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality We bought these skates for our son who plays AA Bantam on a travel team. After under 9 months, three of the eyelets for the laces broke off completely and the boot was irreparable. I think for the price Easton should stand behind these boots for up to a year. I guess there is a reason they only offer a 90 day warranty. For me, paying this amount of money for skates that will break inside of a year is too much. His coaches had never seen such a weakness in a skate. Ever. Easton would do nothing for us. Nothing. We had all of the receipts. The skates had never been damaged in any other way. They could no longer be laced - and we had to toss the skates. You are definitely making a trade off for the softer boot, which is less durability. And, in my opinion, poor customer service. I tried downloading photos, but this site would not let me. Just picture three eyelets completely ripped through :(

I have a narrow/medium heel, and an extremely wide forefoot. Do you think these would be a good option as they are so heat moldable they could stretch around my forefoot?

Asked by: matts40
I have the exact same issue; pretty middle of the road heels, very wide forefoot, huge big toe. It took heat molding plus several hours on the ice for them to really fit to the wider foot (my right), but now they are spot on. Wouldn't wear anything else.

I wear a size 9.5 D in Bauer skates, what size and width would I want for these skates?

Asked by: Dizzy
I used to wear the original Bauer APX skate in a size 6.5 EE. It was a perfect fit. I tried the same size in a Mako skate and it was too small even after heat molding. I went up to a size 7EE and it was a perfect fit. The Mako skate is really comfortable after molding. It will improve your overall skating if you already have decent skating skills. The improvement is very slight, but noticeable. Your mileage may vary. Ed L.

Aside from appearance, are there any major differences between the original Makos and the new ones?

Asked by: Heipfam
The biggest difference I noticed is that they really beefed up the interior support of the boot. The foams used seem to be of a higher quality and provide more comfort right away.
