Rated 5 out of 5 by from Problem Solver I will preface this by saying I have recently (in the last couple years) developed some lacebite issues at various times. I have tried everything from adding padding, changing tongues, lacing another pad on top of the skate and none of it really helped...this pad however was great! It easily velcros to the inside of the tongue, you can move it around to exactly where you want it, and you really do not even notice it's there. It really took the pressure off and helped ease the pain and discomfort. Definitely worth the 10 bucks, especially because you get two in the pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They Just Work I started getting some lace bit issues to the point I couldn't tighten my skates down. I bought these to help disperse the pressure and they absolutely work. They do an excellent job of dispersing the pressure around the front of the ankle enabling a tight lacing in the mid to upper boot. The product itself has velcro on one side so I placed the gel side on the part of the front of my ankle that hurt and brought the lace down on to the velcro and that's where it's been ever since. No need to fuss with it constantly as it's held firmly in place on the tongue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best pads for what it is! I bought a set of these because the Mission Inhaler WM03 blades my wife got me to replace my 20+yo Mission Proto VS 5.5 blades were killing my left forefoot. The skates are brand new and I want to break them in so bad because I know how good a pair of skates feel broken in. My 20yo missions fit like a glove but they are so old that they are hardly supportive now and blocking a shot with those blades would hurt like hell. The new Missions have a thick tongue and it was causing me pain because I normally tighten my blades real tight so my ankle is supported. I do remember have this same exact problem when I was in middle and high school. For some reason my left foot always gave me problems. This pad that I bought has a Velcro backing not adhesive and it was in a pair. They helped a little bit I can still feel the pain from my lace bit. I may just have to deal with it until my blades are completely broken in. I did not choose to bake these because I never baked my blades before and they were molded to my feet from using them and playing in them. I bought the gel pads originally from Amazon that had adhesive on the back and that did not work. Then I saw these and the Velcro works really well and it stays put. I should have only placed the one in my left boot but I put one in each boot. These make the pain go away a little. It’s no longer a sharp deep pain but a rather dull pain that is dispersed over your entire front of you ankles. These are good as long as you have a felt tongue which is in both inline and ice hockey skates and they work pretty well. I think I may just have to suck it up until the pain puts me on the injury list or goes away. I remember this pain as a kid and it eventually went away as does most sport pains. I would def recommend these to anyone either with new blades or is experiencing lace bite in their skates. No matter what you do, new skates will always have lace bite until you break them in. Don’t be like me and bake your skates so it molds to your feet easier. This is a logical buy but a lot of people dont know these exist. I didn’t and I’ve been playing for over 20yrs. Good luck!

Do you need a felt tongue for the Velcro version to work properly?

Asked by: Sugar
These attach by velcro so it will typically work best with a felt material you often find on the inside of the tongue. Thanks!
