The Warrior Alpha QX5 ice hockey glove is a great choice for the recreational or new-to-hockey player looking for a lot of value and protection at an affordable price. Right out of the box, this glove feels like it’s already broken in and ready to go. Players will appreciate the QX5’s combination of protection and comfort.
- TuffTek 2.0 nylon exterior for ready-to-play feel right out of the box
- Medium density EVA foam padding with plastic lock thumb for solid, entry-level protection
- Synthetic leather Clarino for good stick feel and durability
- Moisture-wicking microfiber liner for dry, cool comfort
- Hybrid traditional fit for volume in fingers and cuff with a snug backhand
The Alpha QX5 glove comes with a dual-zone exterior. The main body is made with Warrior’s TuffTek 2.0 nylon, also used in the Alcatraz cuff roll. The TuffTek is the same material used in some of Warrior’s top-line gloves, adding a nice bit of value to this entry-level glove. And although it is designed for entry-level players, the Alpha QX5 offers exceptional flexibility and mobility, with a broken-in feel right out of the box.
The QX5 comes with thick, medium-density EVA foams throughout, giving entry-level or recreational players excellent protection on the top of the hands—and thanks to glove segmentation, protection padding covers the appropriate areas. The contoured fit is helped by a two-piece finger design. The finger block includes a one-piece finger design with good locking properties, so your thumb is less likely to hyperextend.
The palm is made in a black, synthetic leather Clarino for a soft, traditional feel, with an overlay design in the palm to give the player a little more durability. The glove is lined in a conventional but effective moisture-wicking microfiber that’s soft to the touch. The Alpha QX5’s open cuff roll will keep the player’s hands and wrists dry and cool.
The QX5 glove comes in a modified traditional fit—Warrior calls it a ‘hybrid’ traditional fit, with plenty of room in the fingers and cuff, but a more snug feel in the backhand.
For an entry-level glove, the Warrior Alpha QX5 offers impressive protection and comfort. The segmented exterior, combined with the TuffTek and EVA materials, creates the feel, performance, and look players will like.
