Bauer Prodigy Youth 42 Inch Composite Hockey Stick

So, when you think of the age hierarchy of hockey sticks it makes sense for the most part: senior, junior, intermediate, and youth and you've got it covered, right? Well not exactly.

For years youth sticks have been one size fits all, at the very most you'd have two size/flex selections to choose from. Now, parents know better than anyone that kids in the youth age group are growing like weeds, and as they do progress to a Jr. stick they're going to shoot up a couple feet and more than a few pounds. Does it really make sense to group them all together?

Shooting in hockey is all about mechanics, perfecting your swing, properly leveraging the flex of your stick, these dynamics are what separate elite shooters from the rest. The Prodigy line was designed to match your player to the right tool for them to learn to how to shoot the right way the first time, and not years later when they're finally big enough to leverage their stick's capabilities. Shooting in hockey has changed since we were kids, and our probably shouldn't be using the same tools we did just because that's how it was done.

42 Inch 30 Flex

This is the second in the Prodigy stick set, and is designed for players from 45""-55"" tall and between 50-70 lbs. The Bauer Prodigy Youth Hockey Stick is specifically tuned for players in this weight range, with adjustments to its height, width, flex, blade stiffness, curve and lie. All in an effort to maximize its usability and provide your mite with the best playing experience possible. You're in the thick of it now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't break the bank on your little kid's stick. My 9 year old started (at 8 years old) with the 35 flex Bauer Prodigy, then switched to a Nexus with the Prodigy as his backup. Recently, we realized the dude needed a longer twig with a 40 flex. While he switched to another brand, we grabbed this 40 flex Prodigy as his backup as well as the twig he uses indoors practicing on the hard floor and SuperDeker. Great youth stick for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great youth stick I bought this as the next stick for my 5 year old. He is coming from the smaller yellow prodigy stick. The stick is very durable as he uses both on the ice and the ceramic tile floor in our dining room. The weight is good and he is adjusting to the flex as he is at the min height/weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The stick is prized but the price tag is not. My grand son loves the stick, its his favorite posession! High quality. But I paid $10 more to the web site than the tag on the stick. Also prepare to work to get the barcode stickers off of the blade and handle. Get some Goof Off before you try to remove them.

My grandson is dominant right handed. I've been reading the dominant hand should be on the top of the stick with the non-dominant hand down on the shaft. So does this mean I should by a left handed stick? Thanks.

I don't see any reviews for this stick but it was recommended for my son. He is 8 and just starting to his first year of hockey. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

How tall is this stick i am 5 ft 1 in in my skates would it be up to my chin?

Asked by: mikegohard
This stick is 42" in length, and would likely be too short for you. Check out some of our sticks marked as [JUNIOR], as they would likely be a better fit!
