Elite Hockey Sticks
The Elite hockey sticks are the second price point within a product line, and offer many of the features found in the pro-level sticks but at a slightly lower cost. These sticks are typically made using a different molding process than the top-of-the-line sticks, but they’re still one-piece sticks. The carbon fiber used will be downgraded as well, but will still result in a lightweight, durable stick.
The taper and shaft shape is typically passed down through the entire stick line, so you won’t find much of a difference in the feel of the shaft or your ability to load the stick in the top two price points, with the Pro hockey sticks being a little more responsive. You’ll see the biggest differences in the weight and the materials used, but an Elite-level stick is still a great option for the player who skates 3–4-plus times a week but wants to stay within budget.

Bauer Nexus E50 Pro Composite Hockey Stick ($199.99)
Bauer’s Nexus sticks are known for their mid-kick point, offering players an extended pop-life and quick release. Bauer enhances the mid-kick point of the E50 Pro with some top-end technologies. Compared to the previous model, this stick is 10g heavier than the previous E5 Pro to add a little more strength with added premium carbon fiber layers.

This makes it easier to load energy into the stick creating a faster, more controlled release in all situations.
Throughout the shaft Bauer uses UD Carbon Fiber, while in the blade you will find Hexcel Carbon, giving the stick more durability while keeping it very lightweight. In the blade, there is a carbon bridge down the middle of the blade. This is going to add stability and help with overall puck control.

Bauer Vapor X5 Pro Composite Hockey Stick ($219.99)
One of the new features you will notice when picking up the X5 Pro is the reduced weight. Coming in at 390 grams, the X5 Pro is 25g lighter than the previous Vapor 3X Pro model. Bauer was able to reduce the weight of this stick by using Spread Tow Carbon fiber throughout the shaft and blade. This technology uses more premium carbon fiber layers on the interior of the stick. These layers are more strategically stacked making the stick lighter without sacrificing any durability.
A technology that is also found in the top-end HyperLite 2 is the XE Taper. With a unique elliptical geometry, this taper design provides more stability in the blade and a reduced overall weight. This, combined with the HP shaft construction, you’ll be able to increase your puck control, release speed and shot quickness.
In the blade, Bauer uses EnergyCore 3. When comparing this to the HyperCore 2 in the HyperLite 2, the difference is the thickness of the carbon bridges that are placed within the blade. These carbon bridges will add stability and help with overall puck control.
With the Vapor X5 Pro hockey stick, Bauer continues their commitment to offering elite and performance level players with a high-quality stick at a great value. If you enjoyed the HyperLite or 3X Pro, and want excellent features without spending top dollar, this stick is a great option.

Performance Hockey Sticks
Performance hockey sticks fall into the mid-price point and often feature some top technologies found in the Pro-level or Elite sticks, but won’t be constructed using the same materials. Mid-price-point sticks are still one piece, but they’re typically made using a different molding process and will contain more fiberglass instead of the full carbon fiber you’ll find in the Pro and Elite sticks, resulting in slightly heavier sticks.
These sticks make a good option for a recreational or elite player depending on the budget, but if you’re a player who is on the ice 3-plus times a week at a competitive level, you may want to look at the Pro and Elite options for their performance and durability benefits.

Bauer Vapor X4 Composite Hockey Stick ($169.99)
The Vapor X4 stick is designed for performance level players that skate a few times a month and are looking to make the next step into playing hockey regularly. This lightweight stick is a high-performing option for this price point and is built with the features you’ll need to take quick shots and improve your game.
One of the new features you will notice when picking up this stick is the reduced weight. Coming in at 425g, the X4 is 5g lighter than the previous Vapor 3X stick. Bauer was able to decrease the weight by utilizing 15K carbon fiber in the blade and increasing the carbon content of the stick for added strength.
Passed down from the top-end Hyperlite 2 stick is the XE Taper technology. This taper has an elliptical geometry which provides more strength in the blade and reduces weight by limiting the amount of carbon fiber layers needed in this area. The result is a taper that amplifies the low-kick point construction, giving you the stability, responsiveness and quick release you’re looking for.
In the blade, Bauer introduces the EnergyCore 2 blade; integrated with Dual Fiberglass Bridges and a stiff lightweight foam. This creates a pop off the blade that will give you more confidence on those quick shots.

Bauer’s Nexus sticks are known for their mid-kick point, offering players an extended pop-life and quick release. Bauer enhances the mid-kick point of the E40 with some top-end technologies. This stick is heavier than the previous Nexus E4 stick because Bauer added more premium carbon fiber layers for more strength within the shaft.
In the shaft Bauer uses UD Carbon Fiber, which is a carbon weave that gives this stick a lightweight and balanced feel without sacrificing durability. This is a mix of two different foams: a softer foam on the bottom and a lighter foam on the top to enhance overall performance.
Passed down from the top-of-the-line Sync stick is the ER Spine technology. This is a revolutionary 5-sided shape that creates a spine along the back of the shaft to remove excess carbon fiber layers in the key loading zone.
