Hockey shin guards are an important part of the protection gear hockey players wear. The shins are particularly vulnerable while playing hockey and this is the area where a LOT of contact is happening from hockey sticks and pucks, so don't skimp on shin pads, because it will catch up with you. All shin pads will give you a very good level of basic protection, but upgrading your hockey shin guards will mean better technology, additional straps to keep the shin pads in place, better calf protection, and a more comfortable fit. Make sure you know the fit you need - if your shins are too long, your skates will push them up and potentially put your knee at risk. Too short and you risk exposure to your ankles. Most hockey players will secure the fit with some good ol’ hockey tape.
