For 2018, Bauer introduces the Nexus 2N hockey skate. The 2N replaces the old N9000, not the 1N skate. The 2N is a little more affordable but includes all the elite-level performance you’d expect from a top-end Bauer offering. A roomy, high-volume skate, the Nexus 2N is a great choice for the year-round, elite skater looking for professional-grade features at a secondary price point.
The 2N quarter package consists of Bauer’s ultra-lightweight 3-D lasted CURV composite material. It’s thermoformable and will conform to the entire foot, providing pro-level performance with plenty of stiffness and responsiveness for more power and long-term quality.
The lace eyelets in the Nexus 2N align in a traditional configuration, a feature of all 2018 Nexus skates. The laces snug up a 48-oz., black felt, pro-styled tongue. Skaters will appreciate the thick foam and injected plastic metatarsal guard insert for excellent protection on the top of the foot.
The skate interior features Bauer’s Hydra Max 2 lining. Extremely soft to the touch, it’s perfect for the skater who prefers not to wear socks. The durable Hydra Max 2 material does a great job wicking away moisture for long-lasting, dry comfort.
The 2N footbed is Bauer’s Form-Fit+. The Form-Fit+ includes a tacky texture in both the heel cup and toe to help keep the foot planted firmly in the skate. The memory foam ankle padding adds additional comfort and the heel stability needed to avoid power loss in the stride.
The Nexus 2N features a lightweight, fully composite outsole with a nylon midsole. The composites of both the boot and outsole increase the skate’s torsional stiffness—the skate’s twisting action—for excellent responsiveness, perfect for players who push the limits of their skate.
The runners on Bauer’s Nexus 2N adult are Tuuk’s LS3 stainless steel, premium-grade blades for sizes 4-12, whereas sizes 3-3.5 make use of the LS2 stainless blade. The premium stainless steel creates a stronger edge; it’s 3 mm. taller to extend the blade’s sharpening life, and its longer radius delivers more power. The LS3 slides into Tuuk’s Lightspeed Edge holder—the most popular blade holder in the NHL right now, thanks to its quick-release trigger system for ultra-fast steel replacement. Fast replacements mean more on-ice time and less time spent holding down the bench.
The fit profile on all Nexus skates is high-volume for players with a wide forefoot, high instep, and/or someone who desires extra depth in the heel pocket. The Nexus 2N replaces the N9000 and, at that secondary price point, the advanced or elite skater is sure to appreciate the pro-level features Bauer includes in this sharp-looking skate.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.
YOUTH Hockey Skates Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.
*Female Skaters* To find your hockey skate size, it's best to choose skates that are 2.5 to 3 sizes smaller than your women's shoe size. For example, if you wear a women's size 8 shoe, you'd need a size 5 or 5.5 skate.
