In the world of elite-level hockey helmets, Bauer’s Re-Akt 200 ice hockey helmet has got to be one of the rulers. Full of meaningful upgrades, the Re-Akt 200 has been overhauled to provide even better impact protection for the aggressive player, and is now 25% more protective than the Re-Akt 100 or any previous Bauer helmet. This combo version offers all the same elite protection features with the additional lightweight protection of a titanium cage.

  • Re-Akt titanium cage with thinner wires for lightweight protection and 20% more visibility
  • Triple-density floating chin cup with Poron XRD foams and anti-bacterial Microban for clean, secure comfort
  • Updated single lock adjustment system for greater temple protection
  • Fit Plate technology for a custom occipital lock
  • Moisture channels to direct sweat away from the eyes
  • VN and VTX foams for enhanced lightweight protection
  • Next Gen Suspend-Tech liner for linear and rotational impact absorption
  • Molded side foams for extended gap protection
  • Strategically located ventilation for excellent airflow

The shell on the Re-Akt 200 has been slightly updated with a single lock adjustment system that allows the helmet to expand and contract. And the player with an eye for aesthetics will love the helmet’s new sleek and slightly sculpted look, with eye-catching front-to-back venting that provides superior airflow.

The helmet’s interior is where Bauer focused most of its attention on upgrades, giving the Re-Akt 200 a host of new features. The Re-Akt 200 liner now includes Bauer’s Fit Plate technology, the same technology as Bauer uses in its premium Speed Plate footbed. When baked, the Fit Plate provides a custom occipital lock at the back of the helmet for a near-perfect fit. The new Re-Akt 200 also includes additional adjustment pieces designed to eliminate any protection gaps at either temple, whether the helmet is expanded or contracted.

The liner features a base layer of VN foam, a high-density material with a layer of dual-density foam on top of that. The helmet also includes moisture channels that will help direct sweat away from the player’s eyes. Finally, the Re-Akt 200 comes with Poron Xrd pads—the most protective foam Bauer uses.

The Suspend-Tech liner has also been updated. The Next Gen Suspend-Tech is mounted in multiple locations, helping manage the energy of both linear and rotational impacts. The base liner is an updated version of Bauer’s VTX material—similar to EPP foam but more lightweight and protective.

The cage on this combo version of the helmet is Bauer’s Re-Akt titanium cage. Its thinner wires are stronger, lighter weight, and offer 20% more ice vision than standard cages. The chin cup is a floating model with triple-density foams and anti-bacterial Microban. It also includes moisture channels for a clean, dry, and secure fit.

It’s no surprise, or it shouldn’t be, that top companies are paying attention to the all the concern about concussions and head-related injuries. It makes sense that Bauer would seek to invest time and energy into its helmets. And lucky for the players—the Re-Akt 200 Hockey Helmet Combo offers a high-tech array of padding and fit adjustments designed to provide the best protection a player can get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great helmet I bought this helmet for my 14 year old granddaughter who participates on a travel hockey team, where the hockey can get quite physical. It holds the highest rating for helmets. She likes the helmet and the fit. As for the foam piece that came "unglued" on the other review, it is only there for fitting purposes. My husband called the manufacturer about the foam piece and he was told it is there to help with fitting only. We have not had the helmet "heat molded" to my granddaughter's head yet. She has worn it for a few games now and seems to really like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loves it My son tried on all the Bauer options (they all fit his head better than CCM, etc.), and this model was the most comfortable. Also had the highest VirginiaTech rating. That combination justified the cost to me...and it's the most important piece of equipment!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mold and shape / new composite / shape or form the helmet is the best that i have seen in the business. Safety features include impact from all sides .I can see the neck support system is a flexible and it is tapered and is properly shaped to the con tore of the back of the neck. The blue button supports seem to touch the players skull , I removed them and still have the player feeling pressure . there seems to be pressure at the upper left and right rear of the helmet . 2 oclock and10 oclock upper rear section . to over come this objection we will need to expand open the helmet to the right and left . this is an adjustment that is missing. My next step is to have the player wear the helmet for 1 hour. Then make adjustment . Use my heat gun and then press the foam to mold it to another shape if that does not solve the problem The next step is shape and reduce the foam wit a razor blade if this fails Its time to look at another alternative

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable helmet My daughter says this is the first helmet that was comfortable from the 1st time she put it on. All others needed a few wears to break them in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expensive, but not skimping on the helmet. I purchased this helmet for my son after re outgrew his reakt. Has a good fit with the moldable back piece. The only complaint is that the foam on the back of the helmet unglued.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Helmet with Very Protective Features Great helmet! Purchased to replace my son's RE-AKT 100 helmet which was also great but he grew out of it. The RE-AKT 200 has ample protection for harder hits as he is moving into high school hockey.

can the female screws in the front of the helmet be replaced? They spin inside the helmet and the cage screws cannot be fully tightened.

Asked by: mike1010
These screws aren't normally something you can access from the inside of the helmet. You may want to bring your helmet to a pro shop to have someone look at it. Maybe they can troubleshoot your issue and get you back up and running.

I bought the helmet for my son however I can’t seem to adjust it... have tried to unlock flap on top but it still won’t move. Any suggestions?

Asked by: jrodhockey
This helmets shell would slide apart once the adjustment clip is opened. Sometimes it takes a slight pull to do it the first time. I would hold the front and the back of the helmet on the inside and give it a little bit of force when you pull. If it does not work just contact customer service. Thanks!

Can it be made in green?

Asked by: Knight
As of right now that color would be a custom option and we do not have a time frame on this helmet being custom. Sorry. Thanks!

would a small be comparable with youth size?

For the most part yes; but better to measure the circumference first.
