When purchasing a new pair of hockey skates, it is important to focus on fit. If you’re unsure which skate line or model fits your foot best, or if you want an accurate measurement and assessment, visit your local Pure Hockey.

Over the last couple of years Bauer has been focused on separating the performance attributes of the Vapor and Supreme skates from an on-ice performance and feel perspective. The new technologies, new materials and different flex points are what will differentiate these skates.

Vapor focuses on quickness with the lower part of the skate being softer for increased response and the upper part of the skate being stiffer allowing for increased lateral support. The kick point of the Vapor skate is in the lower portion to maximize agility and speed.

An all new feature found in the Vapor Hyperlite skate is the Hyperflex Technology. This is a combination of Facing and Outsole technology that improves the overall flex profile. The Hyperflex Facing technology has integrated flex zones built into the top four eyelets helping to increase the wrap of the skate for more stability. This allows players to quickly and efficiently get on the balls of their feet to maximize the acceleration and transition zones of the blade.

The Hyperflex Outsole is a uniquely constructed outsole that features a rigid composite material on the front and a poured flexible material in the back. The composite material being rigid allows for players to maximize the energy transfer during the acceleration phase of the skating stride.

Another upgrade to the Hyperlite skate is Aerolite, a unique foam material that reduces the weight of the skate while still maintaining comfort. This foam is found in the tongue, which is one of the most noticeable upgrades to this skate. Aerolite helped to remove excess weight while still maintaining excellent support, protection and flexibility.

Passed down from the Vapor 2X Pro line is the asymmetrical toe cap. This toe cap design reduces the volume of the skate for an enhanced low-profile fit, while also allowing you to improve your push-off with each stride.

Internally, Bauer used AeroFoam Pro to provide optimal comfort for the foot and ankle, and a lighter skate that appeals to the quick and agile player.

The all new Hyperlite skate offers a great combination of new technologies and trusted features, providing players with a pair of flexible, lightweight skates that aid in improved agility and flexibility with each stride.

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 8 or greater.

Intermediate Hockey Skates
Intermediate hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 10 to 13 years old with a US shoe size of 5 to 7.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Early Review after a couple of skates Writing this Review possibly a little too soon but I figured I'd give my initial impression after a couple of sessions. Learning curve with these skates for sure but worth it. The agility panels are definitely noticeable when you first gets these on the ice. I'll admit I hated it at first but once you get comfortable with them they're a game changer. New tongue is nice but there is a material seam in there that can dig into your ankle so if there's any con I've found yet, that might be it. Great performing skate and very responsive. Again this is early but for right now pretty happy with the purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits DIFFERENT Than Vapor 2X Pros…but Better! I personally feel these are the best Vapor skates that have come out since the APX2s. Please note that the Hyperlite skates fit differently than the Vapor 2X pros from last year. The forefoot is slightly wider and more voluminous than prior years. This is a good thing to me, but something you should be aware of. Also, the thinner tongue creates more volume on the tops of your feet than that of the 2X Pros. Again, good for me, but you might be different. Overall these are great skates and are very comfortable. The new eyelet system wraps your foot better than the 2X Pros. The only knock they get is the Bauer sizing. I have a high volume foot and these still aren’t as high volume as the old Bauer Nexus skates, even in a Fit 3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They’re fast as frick, boyeeee Switched to Vapors at the 2x Pro’s and decided to upgrade to the Hyperlites when they came out. In short, I absolutely love them. Only took 2-3 skates to have them fully broken in, and while the aerolite tongue is definitely different, I think it provides a little more support and protection than the older felt style. Waiting to get the carbon runners back from profiling and I’ll be the best D leaguer in America.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight Agility Just bought these skates. First impressions is a great fit, very comfortable, feel light and very quick. I would recommend going to the store to get fitted, the new fit system can really get you a custom fit but can also be confusing. After getting my foot scanned, the skate tec recommended a fit one 7.5 skate. It does have a wide toe box which works well with my shape foot. The steel is chosen separately from the skate, which is also different. Size 7.5 with steel is 825g.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so far so good! great skate! My 14 year old was due for new skates. She has skated her entire life so she knows what she likes! Bauer has been very good to her over the years. Last pair was a pair of Supremes S2's which she had for FIVE years! wore the skate out finally! She loves the combination of a very light weight skate that offers maximum protection and great flexibility. I was concerned about the black carbon blades that were recommended for the skate and glad we did not purchase them for another $250 per set! (that is not a type-o). She opted for the titanium ($150 instead of $250). when i brought them to be profiled, the guy said they are having problems with the carbon melting off the blade during sharpening obviously a HUGE issue! The skates are very expensive. Hopefully they last as long as the Supremes?! They will be put to the test playing year round constantly skating!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Skates! My son plays elite AAA. He's always wore Bauer Supreme and very picky with new skates especially. This new pair is incredible with their new fitting system. Very comfortable from day 1. The blades are responsive when he makes sharp turns. The edges makes such distinct sounds as he cuts the ice compared to his older skates. Awesome so far!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game Changer! These are the best skates I've ever worn. There was zero break-in period, and I notice the speed and quickness improvements immediately, really!!!! Like most hockey players, I'm really picky when it comes to skates. I switched from the supreme line because my foot is narrow at the heel. These skates are a game changer, for me.

Is there an option to have the tongues changed out to normal felt tongues like on the 2x pros? Why does Bauer keep coming up with these gimmick tongues when 99% of players prefer the felt style.

Asked by: Woogy
no sorry not for the Bauer Vapor Hyperlite skates; the new AeroLite felt-less tongue is 15% lighter without compromising comfort or protection. This feature also allows the tongue to better mold to the top of the foot during the baking process...

These can be baked right??

Asked by: Buck b
Sure can! Please make sure you visit a pro shop to have this service done. It's not something you want to do at home. The risk of ruining your skates is too high. Thanks!
