The Bauer Vapor X2.9 hockey skates are designed for the player who skates 2-3+ times per week and is looking for a good balance of fit, performance, and comfort.

  • Low-profile design for an enhanced fit
  • PERFORMFLEX System for improved overall performance
  • 3D Lasted Tech Mesh quarter for quality support
  • Comfort Edge and Aero Foam padding for a personalized feel
  • Form-Fit+ footbed for “step-in” comfort
  • Tuuk Lightspeed EDGE holder for improved striding

When choosing a new pair of skates, it is important to place a focus on fit. If you’re unsure which skate line and model fits your foot best, or if you’re looking for an accurate measurement and assessment, visit your local Pure Hockey. Bauer’s Vapor skate line features low-profile models, including the Vapor X2.9, best suited for players with low-volume foot dimensions. Bauer implements their PERFORMFLEX System into the X2.9, designed for better comfort, fit, and overall performance.

The PERFORMFLEX System includes a 3D Lasted Tech Mesh quarter package. This quarter construction offers great support and thermoformability for an optimal fit and improved skating performance. Inside the boot, Bauer combines Comfort Edge and Aero Foam padding for added support, as well as some personalized comfort in the ankle thanks to the thermoformable properties of these technologies.

The Vapor X2.9 skate includes a hydrophobic microfiber liner and Bauer’s Form-Fit+ footbed. The liner provides good support, a soft feel, and moisture-management properties to help wick sweat away and keep your foot secured in the boot. And the footbed is lined with memory foam underneath for true comfort as soon as you step into the skate. This model also includes a two-piece, 48-oz. felt tongue injected with a metatarsal guard for solid protection, comfort, and good flexibility when skating.

Like the top-of-the-line Vapor 2X Pro, the X2.9 includes the Tuuk Lightspeed EDGE holder. This holder system offers performance benefits and an easy-to-use mechanism that allows you to switch a damaged or broken blade out quickly. Simply pull the trigger on the holder to unlock the blade, them remove it with your hand (using a towel as a buffer), pliers, or the Bauer-provided tool. Insert your new blade until it clicks into place, and you’ll be back on the ice without missing a shift. And because the trigger system locks the new blade in place, energy transfer from the boot to the blade will be maximized with every stride. Attached to the Lightspeed EDGE holder is the Tuuk LS1 runner which provides good edge life and performance.

The Vapor X2.9 skate provides players with a great low-profile option, with the right fit and performance features included to make this model a terrific value.

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable out of the box I am a once or twice a week beer league player and I needed an upgrade from my leather ccm 952 tacks. I didn’t want to break the bank but wanted durability, longevity, and lightness. At this price point I think I have the best mix of the three. They are comfortable out of the box and with a bake felt good on my first skate. They are plenty light, too. The next level up is so stiff that it requires 4-5 skates per week and I just don’t have that. Looking forward to at least 5 years on these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great skate, if they’re meant for you These skates have been great. They’re super comfortable and feel like they’re in the sweet spot of pricing. If you can, go get scanned and fitted in store. I never would have thought that a low volume boot would fit me, but after the scan that’s what the pure hockey employee said, and after trying the low volume Vapors on side by side with the mid volume Supremes, I was convinced! If I was buying online I would have gone with the supremes and not been as happy for me specific foot. So again, if you can, definitely go into a store to get fitted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bauer Vapor X2.9 After 20+ years wearing very comfortable Graf's, I was hesitant to move to the new style boot, but glad I did. While they are stiff, the baking and sizing process definitely helped. While initially they don't feel so great when you strap them on for a skate, after about 5 minutes on the ice they work good. Toe box and heel are definitely different between the collections, so try them all before committing. For a mid-range skate worn by an adult in a men's league they fit the bill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best skate I've bought These skates are great. I officiate and play, so I'm on the ice 5-6 nights per week. I have a wide foot, but a narrow heel. I usually have always bought supremes for the comfortable width, but the heel padding would deteriorate from too much movement. Switched to these with the fit 3 style, and they are perfect! Lightweight, and zero issues with lace bite.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Mid-Level Skates With a Fast Break-In Time I picked up these skates a few weeks ago. After a bake, sharpening, and a few sessions on them they felt as comfortable as my old skates. The price is great for a nice mid-level skate. I like how much padding they have. I can really feel the difference in comfort over my old skates. There are two negative things about these skates, one of which is already going away. The stock tongue has a rigid carbon piece integrated into it. It offers good lace bite protection, but was a little too stiff for my liking. (With a bit of time spent flexing the tongue, it has loosened up.) Another feature that didn't seem to live up to the name was the "Comfort Edge". It's just too compressible to offer much comfort. It's better than nothing, though. Overall, these skates are a good value for someone looking for a mid-level skate. They have a fast break-in time with good amounts of padding. The only thing I would like to see in the future would be a less compressible "Comfort Edge".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Skate for the Serious Skater Nice light weight and comfortable skate. Great for the serious skater who doesn't necessarily play hockey anymore. Like me. Kudos to the Pure Hockey staff in Tampa for finding the right skate for me and making sure it fitted correctly.

I have a pair of 2.7 vapors fit D.  I have a small heal, but the D fit hurt my ankles/Navicular.  Should I change to a Fit2 or a Supreme?

Asked by: Smore
This would be a little tough to troubleshoot without you in person. Please come by one of our stores so we can help make sure the skates you end up with are the best fitting ones to your feet. https://www.purehockey.com/storelocator.aspx

I'm currently in a pair of size 8 Bauer Vapor X700. My regular shoe size is a 10 1/2 . My larger right foot still slips in the heel so I've got special slip-proof socks and a toe box padding to help secure it. Any suggestions for my next pair?

Asked by: CWButz
It's possible that the Vapor fit isn't ideal for your foot shape. You may find the more anatomical heel fit of a Supreme/Bauer Fit 2 to secure your foot better. I wish there was a more custom way to fit a customer online for a pair of skates like we can in person. If you're local to a Pure Hockey, we'd love to have you swing by so we can help lock your next pair of skates in.

How do these fit compared to the supremes? I did the 3d sizing machine and it said I should wear a size 12 fit1 which was suprising to me since I wear a size 15 shoe! I tried on a size 12 fit 2 supremes and they were a half inch too small.

Asked by: ACEstone86
Hello - The Vapor skate lines will fit more narrow in the ankle area and wider in the toe box than a Supreme line skate. Senior skates are only made up to senior size 12 as senior CCM and Bauer skates run from sizes 6-12 . You may have to go a custom larger size skate route if the size senior 12 skates are too small ...

Am I able to get these in bauer's new fit system. I am in a nexus now and starting to feel less snug the more they get broken in. Vapor 2.9

Asked by: Brian04
You may find yourself able to wear a Vapor boot! The Fit3 is what you will want to consider. That fit is most similar to what you find with your Nexus boots. If possible, come by one of our Pure Hockey stores so we can fit you up and make sure your in the best skate possible for your foot. Thanks!

How do these skate hold up if you were to bake them?

Asked by: K_88
These skates are thermo-moldable and its recommended that you do mold them. Please visit a local pro shop because if you bake these at home you will void the warranty. Thank you!

How much does the skate way Size 4

Asked by: Bard hockey
I do not have the exact weight of that size but I can tell you these are about 50 grams heavier than the 2X. These are great skates and very light. The difference between this skate and the 2X is something you would have a hard time feeling when these are on your feet. Thanks!
