The name says it all for the new for 2013 CCM Extreme Flex line. It is both extremely flexible in the boot and has a good amount of torsional flex in the shin area. This allows the goalie to more easily load his/her push leg in a butterfly recovery as well as easily direct rebounds to the corner. The face of the pad is layered in soft foam giving the goalie closer rebounds.
The new 90 degree boot angle is both flatter and softer than what is found on it's Reebok counterpart, the Premier 4. The knee and calf landings are bindingless to provide maximum durability. We chose to have double break in the outside roll, giving the pad more flex in the upper thigh. The tight leg channel with calf Velcro allows the goalie to maintain control of the pad without having to wear the leather straps tight. The open knee cradle allows ample space for bigger knee guards as well as offering superb pad rotation and balance. Unlike the Reebok P4, the CCM EFlex pads have a flat inside medial (inside) edge, which means that the goalie is more stable and in control when in the butterfly. The knee lock Velcro can attach to the outside of the knee cradle or to the outside calf wrap.
The new CCM Extreme Flex 500 leg pads are the perfect combination of a butterfly and hybrid style pad.
Differences between the EFlex Pro and EFlex 500 come from the internal and external materials used. The nylon on the backside of the pad is a 400D on the 500 series and the Pro model uses 420D. The Pro model uses EPE molded foam and the 500 series uses high quality HD and LD foams. Although some of the materials change you still get all the great features that the Pro model offers at a much lower price point. The 500 model is not customizable but is available in many of our own unique custom colors.

Reebok utilizes a "Floor to Knee" fit guide to determine the proper leg pad size to meet your needs. To determine your "Floor to Knee" measurement, measure the distance from the floor (in bare feet) to the middle of the knee cap, straight up, knees slightly bent. Find this measurement in the chart below, then look at the number above it to find your pad size.
If fitted properly, the goalie's knee should rest in the center of the knee cradle with the pad securely attached to the goal skate and properly strapped on the goaltender's leg. Generally, this will ensure that the pad breaks (bends) at the knee/shin and ankle as designed for optimal performance.
