The Super Tacks AS3 features several technologies that are found on the top of the line AS3 Pro, including a performance-minded one-piece boot design.

  • One-piece RFM MonoFrame for a direct energy transfer
  • Anatomical fit provides formfitting, 360-degree support in the foot, heel and ankles
  • Total Dri Pro Liner for high-performance moisture wicking
  • DuraZone Abrasion Protection protects against wear and rubbing
  • 7mm replaceable asymmetrical TriTech Tongue for comfort and lace bite protection
  • Speedblade XS blade holder makes it easy to change out blades
  • XS Stainless steel runner for long-term performance

Staying consistent with the prior generation, the Super Tacks line remains CCM’s medium fit design. Finding the right skate for you means finding the model that fits your foot best. If you’re unsure, or you’re looking for the most accurate measurement you can get, visit your local Pure Hockey. The Super Tacks AS3 is an anatomical, form-fitting 360 degree fit around the forefoot, heel and ankle.

CCM’s MonoFrame boot construction is all about performance. The one-piece build is engineered to put players in direct contact with the ice for a more direct energy transfer and a closer fitting boot. This is achieved by eliminating a glued and nailed bottom piece. Instead, RFM composite, a lightweight material wraps underneath the boot. This allows energy to flow seamlessly through the skate. The RFM material is slightly heavier and a bit less stiff than the Carbon Composite material used on the AS3 Pro, but it still high performing.

Inside the boot, CCM has included their Total-Dri liner to wick away unvented moisture from the foot for a soft, dry, comfortable feel. The liner’s textures help lock the foot in place when it’s sweaty, for power maintenance and foot stability. And for skaters who wear their shin guards beneath the skate’s tongue, DuraZone patches help reduce liner wear. In the ankle pockets, CCM has added areas of multi-density memory foam. The symmetrical foam pads wrap anatomically around the foot to give you a custom fit and feel.

For a tongue, CCM used its asymmetrical TriTech Flex with a special molded lace-bite protection design. This 7mm asymmetrical tongue molds to the foot and lower ankle for a great fit and protection against that frustrating, nagging lace-bight that never seems to go away. In the footbed,  CCM has carried down their OrthoLite UltraLite technology for superior comfort and a light weight feel.

The Speedblade XS Holder is CCM’s quick-release blade holder system and this is the same design that is found on the top of the line AS3 Pro. This spring-loaded system makes it easy to change out your runners in seconds. It works by using a positive-lock mechanism to tightly secure the blade to the holder. Once it’s time to replace the blade, all you have to do is roll the BladeLock dial until you feel resistance, pop the blade out, place your new blade in the holder, and turn back the dial. Speaking of blades, the XS Stainless provides a long-lasting edge for long term performance.

CCM has continued to improve upon the previous generation of Super Tacks and in the second price point, AS3 still offers plenty of pro-level features. If you are an elite player looking for a high performing anatomical medium fit skate, the CCM Super Tacks AS3 is a valuable option.

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Early opinion on AS3 I upgraded to AS3 from Ultra Tacks. I could notice the difference between the feel of the ice which was improved on the AS3. Have been impressed with minimal break in time, but maybe since same family of skates as previous. Can’t advise on durability due to short amount of time since purchase, but impressed with the feel. Still getting used to the longer tongue that comes with them. Always have the option to purchase & easily swap to different tongue. Don’t think will be necessary and will probably stick with current tongue. If you like to flop your tongue, these are plenty long to do so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced my Easton Mako w/CCM Super Tacks AS3 My Easton Mako skates finally fell apart, literally coming apart at the seams where the boot meets the base. After having my feet scanned by the device at Pure Hockey, we proceeded to try on several types of skates. I tried Bauer Vapor and Supreme, True, and a couple of CCMs. Of all of these, the Super Tacks AS3 were the closest to replicating the snug fit I had become accustomed to with the Makos. Baked them in , did a public skate for break-in, and I've played two games so far under short-manned bench situations (read: lots of ice time). I've had essentially no foot pain/issues with the break-in. The skates have been phenomenal and I've regained confidence in my skating (I hadn't realized how unstable my skating had become under the deteriorating Makos). I am very pleased with purchasing these and looking forward to many years of play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great skates with a ton of features for the price Purchased these after skating in Bauer Supremes for the last four years. Head and shoulders above the Supremes in terms of comfort and feel on the ice. The one piece boot is phenomenal. Hard to describe but you’re not standing on them. Your standing in them which translates to a much better “feel” for the ice and your edges. They are VERY stiff but not uncomfortable in any way. Comfort padding at the top serves it purpose for sure. The steel is fine but a quick upgrade is very easy to make if you desire. First rate for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Skate - (AS3) Had never tried a Tacks line boot before. I have had alot of problems with the toe cap (box) area of skates, but this one works well for me. I tried the Jetspeeds line but the cap didn’t work for me and the boot seemed too tight for my particular foot type. I always assumed the Super Tacks were going to be too voluminous for me but was wrong. The boot actually fits very snug and with the superior liner that CCM put in this one, it is comfortable as well. The one piece boot I’m sure helps in fit as it really wraps around the foot. I also went with the tongue upgrade to the XSvblack felt 10mm. and really fits like a glove. Very nice looking skate as well IMO. One last thing I noticed is that the quality control on this model is excellent. No slop on the outside and all rivets were crimped nicely into the inner footbed with no rough edges to gouge a nice custom footbed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good skate for folks with wide heels/high insteps These are really well fitting skates for those of us who have wide heels, high arches and high insteps. I also find that my turning radius is a smaller arc. My previous experience with CCM skates had been bad but these fit my feet better than my old Bauer's. The district manager was the person who fit me and he did an outstanding job. He recommended the Superfeet insoles and they made the skates fit even better. The only drawback that I experienced was that the first sharpening was off on the right skate. It felt like there was drag on the blade when I glided on the right skate after I pushed off with the left. I took them back and the first employee that I talked to re-sharpened the blades so the skates are really good now. It only took me a few shifts the next time that I skated after the new sharpening to get used to them. Definitely a good buy and overall I am really pleased with them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great skate but the paint completely fell off Bought the skate 2 weeks after release, and I almost have them for a year. Great skate with an amazing fit, probably the best skates I've ever had, but 2 weeks in after a few skating sessions the paint on the skates fell off, and i've seen plenty of people with the same problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING UPGRADES The memory foam interior is extremely comfortable & the new tooless runner exchange is a great addition to the Super Tacks model not to mention the tongue options ... just a top of the line package!

Does anyone know if CCM is making these skates in a Junior 2.5? My son has worn this skate for a few years now and it fits him perfectly. I just can’t believe they would just not make a few sizes??? Seems they are missing sizes 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5.

are these comparable to CCM Tacks 6092

Asked by: senior jay
The AS3 skate is going to be a higher end option compared to the older 6092 skate. The 9380 may be closer in comparison to the 6092. Thanks!
