The CCM Super Tacks ice hockey skates are the product of over five years of R&D by CCM, and their partner the University of Calgary. In an effort to study the bio-mechanics of hockey specific movements they brought the lab to the rink to uncover the most accurate, real-time data available to decode what most influences the performance of a skate.CCM & the University of Calgary examined where the most pressure was applied in the skate and when it happened throughout the course of your stride. The goal was to profile your foot's anatomical strengths and weakness and turn that data into the most supportive skate possible.

MonoFrame 360 Technology

We'd like you to meet the fruits of their efforts CCM's DNA Molded Fit: MonoFrame 360. The first fully heat-moldable, full composite, one-piece boot. Free from the limitations of out-soles, the weight of excess materials, and the inefficiencies associated with transitioning energy through multiple surfaces and materials. The single-piece construction and anatomical design in the Super Tacks ice skates maximize contact area on the players foot, optimizing force and enabling for the most responsive feel yet.

Heat Moldable T-Form Core

The secret to the super-stiff moldable composite boot of the Super Tacks skates, is CCM's T-Form Core. Running throughout the entire body of the boot, T-Form allows for an incredibly thorough heat mold. It's nicely complimented by a multi-density array of padding in the ankle of the boot, formed around CCM's new asymmetrical anatomic ankle it provides unreal heel lock even just out of the box.

TotalDri Liner and ADV Tongue

In an effort to keep the Super Tacks ice skates as light as possible, CCM's TotalDri liner utilizes an elite moisture management system that helps to minimize absorption. CCM also added comfort and durability features to the liner of the Super Tacks ice skates, with abrasion resistant patches in high traffic areas, and a """"smooth comfort pro"""" patch on the top of the boot to minimize irritation during big lateral movements. The Pro-level felt tongue on the Super Tacks has been redesigned to accept a more precise heat mold, further eliminating negative space and maximizing fit, it has even been augmented with injected lace bite protection to keep you locked in and as comfortable as possible.

Speedblade 4.0 and Speedblade Black

Finally, the familiar SPB 4.0 holder and Black Steel Runner return to provide world-class performance to your skate's one contact point with the ice. The 4.0 holder is designed with an aggressive height profile to allow players to getLOW when turning without bottoming out. The SB Black steel is a real star here, as the high quality steel is treated with a premium oxide process thatproduces harder, smoother, more corrosion resistant steel. That means a stronger edge, fewer sharps, and faster glide. Doesn't get much better than that, huh?

SENIOR Hockey Skates
Senior hockey skates are sized to fit adults and full grown teenagers with a Men's US shoe size of 7 or greater.

JUNIOR Hockey Skates
Junior hockey skates are sized to fit kids in the range of approximately 8 to 12 years old with a US shoe size of 2 to 6.5.

YOUTH Hockey Skates
Youth hockey skates are sized to fit toddlers and young children in the age range of approximately 9 years old and younger with a US youth shoe size of 1.5 or smaller.

*Female Skaters*
The difference between men's shoes and women's shoes is 1.5 to 2 sizes. So, if you wear size 9 women's shoes, that translates to a men's size 7.5 or 7.0, which would put you in a size 6 senior hockey skate. More simply put, go 3 sizes down from your women's shoe size in order to find your hockey skate size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Tacks, Super Happy I have worn Bauer Supremes for 20+ years and returned my latest pair for the Super Tacks 2 days ago. Baked and edged. I expected to fall on my face as I stepped on the ice due to the Bauer to CCM conversion. I didn't. I was at 100% in the first 5 minutes. Zero discomfort neither during or after. The boot is very stiff but the comfort is amazing. The skate feels very natural. Which I couldn't say about the Supremes I have returned. IMO. Worth every penny.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great skate. Definitely not worth the price. I won these in the CCM love your game contest and they are an amazing skate, super light, insole is really comfortable and gives you a nice bounce when starting your stride and I love how they fit. My foot is a little wider than normal so I did have to go a half size up but that was no problem. The top eyelet and cuff curve around your ankle to give you better lockdown and I really like that. But I do not believe this skate or any skate is worth a $900 price tag, or even $800. However if you do feel like spending this much on skates, I highly suggest getting these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great skate Took me 1 min on the ice for me to get used to skates and go full stride. Very comfortable. Feels like the Bauer supremes for those people wearing Bauers. Black runners look awesome. Took a shot in the ankle and only got a slight bruise. Probably would have broken my ankle if it were another skate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rough Start They seem like a good skate at face value. I've been on them twice. So it's VERY early. But they are the most painful things I've ever worn. "5 minutes and I felt normal" said one reviewer? I have NO idea how that is possible. My feet were so numb and painful that it took me a minute to get the feeling back when I took them off. Very difficult to skate in so far. And I bake them twice. The edges also stink, which could be the sharpening. But still. Had no quick feet because of the severe pain and rough edges. A horrific start. I have a mildly wide foot. Never had to buy a shoe or skate that was made for a wide foot though before. I'm wondering if that could be the issue. Very disappointed and discouraged that the feel and uncomfortableness is this severe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best skate I've ever worn I bought these skates in Aug 2017 and played 2 times a week in Oct-May and 1 time a week in the other months, with some weeks off in the summer. I came from a pair of CCM Externo E60's that I got back in 2004(?). They were great but just started breaking down (I could still use them as a backup pair). Went in and tried Bauers, but felt the Super Tacks were the superior fit. Overall, love the look and feel of this skate. I still get the "whoosh" sound of the air being pushed out of the skate when I push my heel in - that shows how tight a fit it is. Unlike others who say there was no break in, I did have to break them in. Got blisters and sores the first 2 skates. After that, nothing. They fit like a glove and are extremely comfortable. I hope the durability is as good as my 13yr old Externos. So far so good. Only minor cosmetic damage.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Give some to get a little I have 15+ years of experience and have played hockey at elite levels. Never have I had such poor customer support backing a skate. The skate broke down almost instantly due to the composite being compromised underneath the CCM emblem. However, CCM deemed that hockey is a rigorous sport and these things happen. Yes I agree however, when the skate was built and marketed for sale you would think that a lack of structure that lead to furthermore boot compromises (water all underneath the composite and bubbling) would be manufacturing error. Maybe not, but than I saw the new AS1’s and virtually everything in my original email to CCM was remodeled for the better on the AS1’s. So clearly I was not the only one who saw these areas of the boot being extremely defective and inefficient. Along with that, ankle issues arose through the compromised boot structure on my end. When I contacted CCM again, they basically said kick rocks after I had to wait 1.5 months for an email response. Bauer on the other hand took less than a week and two emails for similar issues on a boot that they deemed defective. Bauer kept me skating throughout my seasons and actually cared about keeping players on the ice as opposed to CCM had an incredible lack of care to give. Best way I could put this boot description is: extremely light weight and great power transfer but it comes at the cost of high discomfort in some cases and non-existent customer service. All in all, I would not purchase these skates or CCM skate products until they fix some customer service issues and fix this issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING!!! I shopped several high end brands and models and this was my pick. I am 100% satisfied and so glad I splurged. If money is not an object and the fit is right for you, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit! Great skate! No break in period or any mental adjustments necessary. I was shocked how well they handled out of the box, especially from my past experiences breaking in skates. Hearing the air pssst, out of the skate when I slide my foot in tells me it’s an awesome tight fit. Very pleased.

I currently have an old pair (probably 2002 to 2004) 1152s in an 8 with D/A width. What would be comparible size for new Super Tacks.

Asked by: TomA
I have 2005 852's in an 8D and tried on these and a 7D fit.  They seem to run smaller than they used to.

I currently have a Bauer Total One skate in a 7D. I want to switch to Tacks. I love the size and fit, would you recommend a 7D in the Tacks?

Asked by: Jake22
I too wore a 7.5 in my (ancient) Nike Vapors but went with a size 8 in the CCM Super Tacks.  As a general rule my understanding is that Super Tacks do run wider too.

Are Tacks slightly wider than Bauer Supreme or is it an identical fit?

Asked by: Dez186
Yes, the CCM Super Tacks are wider than the Bauer skates.  I spent an entire weekend trying on skates and went with the  CCM Super Tacks (ST).  I have a very wide foot and went with the EE.  My old Nike Vapor's were a 7.5 and I went with a size 8 in the ST. These skates are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.  They are NOT cheap but if you can splurge, you will NOT be disappointed.  I play adult intermediate recreation hockey and LOVE them.

How much room will baking and break in add?  7.5 toes are pretty tight on toe box length wise. Size 8 I can barely feather the toe box in one skate and have slight heel slippage in both skates.

Asked by: Wing88
It sounds like the size 7.5 is the right fit. Although it is tough to stay how much room baking will provide (given the variation in temperature and process) it will soften the boot and help it form to your foot. I would recommend stopping by our Troy store if you can and see JR. He can help you to make sure you get the right fit. Thank you!

I currently have the Jetspeed skates, how do these fit length wise and width wise compared to them?

Asked by: BLRw
Hello! The new Tacks line fits about 1/2 size smaller than the JetSpeeds. For example, if you wear a size 8 in the JetSpeeds, you would be a size 8.5 in the new Tacks line. The new Tacks are also slightly wider near the base of the toes and are more form fitting at the ankle. Please let us know if you have any more questions!
