90 Day Satisfaction Guarantee on CCM Tacks 9090 Ice Hockey Skates.
The CCM Tacks 9090 ice hockey skate shares almost every specification with the top-end AS1 skate, except the 9090 model comes in a two-piece boot construction for players who appreciate a traditional, two-piece feel. Otherwise, the 9090 offers pro-level materials and features at a more affordable price than the AS1.
- SpeedBlade 4.0 holder with SpeedBlade Black runners for geometrical stiffness and corrosion-free durability
- Premium composite outsole for a light, rigid transfer of energy
- RocketFrame Composite quarter package with SpeedCore III technology for stiff, thermoformable fit and performance
- Double stitching throughout for increased durability
- TriTech Flex tongue for comfort, mobility, and protection
- Embossed lace-bite guard for impact protection
- Total-Dri liner for soft, dry comfort
- Smooth Contour collars for high-ankle abrasion protection
- DuraZone patches for protection against shin guard wear
- Anatomical Response footbed for vented, contoured comfort
The Tacks 9090 enjoys an upgrade with CCM’s SpeedBlade Black runners, coated in a black oxide that helps the blades stay sharp and corrosion-free, and held to the skate in the SpeedBlade 4.0 holder with SpeedRib construction. This unique geometrical design harnesses the power of triangles for increased torsional rigidity and improved energy transfer though each stride. The holders also offer one of the most aggressive turning radiuses available.
The holder joins CCM’s premium composite outsole—the 9090 is the only Tacks skate to feature this specification—that’s lighter and more rigid, akin to the SpeedRib technology, for better energy transfer. The outsole is also vented to allow interior moisture to escape the boot for dry on-ice comfort and a quicker off-ice dry time. The 9090 also features a composite midsole.
The quarter package comes in CCM’s RocketFrame Composite material, with a SpeedCore III inner core. The SpeedCore III offers the same stiffness as the AS1 skate, for pro-level response and performance. Both materials are extremely lightweight and highly thermoformable. The new 3-D lasted process offers a superbly anatomical fit, and when baked for a custom fit, the skate will feel broken in before it even touches the ice.
CCM emphasizes durability this year, and the injected vamping improves the skate’s durability, as do the brass eyelets, the eyelet facing, and the double-stitching in the tongue, tendon guard, and vamping. The tendon guard is fully injected, and an upgrade over last year’s version with more stiffness and durability.
The top of the quarter package includes CCM’s Smooth Contour collars, helping reduce annoying high-ankle abrasions—a common problem in high-end boots. The Tacks 9090 tongue is CCM’s TriTech Flex model with lace-bite protection. The 7mm white felt delivers pro-level thickness and the injected center foams promise excellent comfort, mobility, and protection. The embossed lace-bite guard protects the skater’s foot against lace bite, but the embossing also helps stabilize the laces for a consistently accurate tongue wrap all game long.
The Tacks 9090 skate includes a Total-Dri liner to wick away unvented moisture from the foot for a soft, dry, comfortable feel. The liner’s textures help lock the foot in place when it’s sweaty, for power maintenance and foot stability. And for skaters who wear their shin guards beneath the skate’s tongue, DuraZone patches help reduce liner wear. The ankle pockets come with thick memory foams for a comfortable feel and fit. The footbed is CCM’s vented Anatomical Response model that works with the outsole vent to help push moisture out of the boot and promote a cool airflow. The Tacks 9090, like all Tacks skates, is a medium-volume skate for players with standard forefoot, instep, and heel-depth dimensions.
The CCM Tacks 9090 is built and designed for elite-level players who expect the best performance from their skates. The two-piece composite boot design and pro-level features make the 9090 an attractive offering for players looking to save a little money but who still want to hit the ice wearing one of the best skates on the market.
