Durometer Ratings Explained:

Lower durometer ratings indicate a softer material.  As it relates to inline wheels, the lower the rating, the more grip one should expect. Keep in mind these wheels wear down faster if played on too rough of a surface, and bigger/heavier players should generally avoid the lowest durometer ratings, even on sport court type surfaces, as the wheel material will "flatten out" under heavier weights.

Higher durometer ratings indicate a harder material and provide better durability and grip on the hardest surfaces. Generally, higher durometer rated wheels should not be used on on smooth indoor surfaces. These wheels wear evenly and slowly on outdoor surfaces and are ideal street / outdoor types of hockey and skating.
