Vaughn has made many updates to its Ventus line to create what is the LT98 Ventus blocker. The LT98 features the same board shape as its predecessor, the LT90, but has added key improvements to the front and side that propel this iteration higher. A layer of carbon fiber has been added to the core of the board to provide superb protection as well as excellent rigidity. This give the blocker a longer life and keeps it performing well save after save. The stick opening between the thumb and fingers on the side has also been expanded, offering goalies more freedom with the stick to make passes and direct pucks away from the goal.

The underside of the LT98 has also been upgraded. Vaughn has utlized VX suede palm which provides sweat resistance for superb stick feel throughout the game. The palm is also grippier than that of the LT90, giving goalies more control over their stick. The palm has been offset to lower the board relative to the hand, helping goalies reach for lower shots. The patent pending Palm Tension system, new for 2015, is included to give goalies the ability to adjust the height of the internal palm, allowing goalies to tailor the glove to fit their hand perfectly.

The finger protection has been strengthened significantly for the LT98. The finger guards now use 3mm thick carbon fiber reinforcements which not only make the blocker lighter and less bulky, but maintain a tremendous level of protection. The wider thumb guard also has carbon fiber in its core, further reducing weight and improving protection.
