The Warrior Covert QR Edge youth hockey stick is specifically designed for a young player just starting out in the game. The young player will still enjoy many of the features found in the standard QR Edge sticks, but this stick is sized a little smaller so the young skater can master proper shooting form.
- QR Edge taper for explosive release
- Minimus Carbon technology for improved energy transfer
- True 1-piece technology for lightweight response
- Pro Cortex Grip for optimum hand control
- Foam-filled core blade with heel-to-toe stringers for stiffness
The shaft and flex on the Covert QRE youth stick are designed for kids, so they can learn and practice proper shooting form. The shaft is narrower so that smaller hands can firmly grip the stick and get a good feel for the puck. All the new QR Edge sticks have moved away from the familiar Dagger taper for 2018 and now offer a new angular edge taper. The flex ratings for the youth and tyke sticks are 30 and 20, respectively. These low flex numbers will help the QRE drive energy through the hosel while magnifying power for quick releases.
The updated profile delivers a more explosive release, as energy transfers more easily through the shaft, blade, and puck. The new geometry is more stable than traditional tapers but is still very thin into the blade. Despite the thin taper, the blade stays square, even during big slap shots, without any twisting or torquing, helping to improve shot accuracy.
The construction material in the Warrior Covert QRE is still the Minimus Carbon, but has been upgraded to the 1200 from the 1000 used in the older QRL sticks. 12k carbon fiber is a pro specification still commonly used in the NHL, and its high-strength, lightweight flat-weave carbon composite design improves the stick’s construction. The ultra-thin carbon fiber transfers energy a little more easily and efficiently. Overall, this durable stick manages impacts better with an enhanced pop-life.
The shaft construction is a True 1 Phantom one-piece design, a carry-over feature, so the stick is still consistent top to bottom, but with an improved balance that will make shooting and stickhandling easier for young players. The one-piece design helps keep the stick lightweight, as well, with better responsiveness and increased control during play.
The stick blade in the QR Edge still offers a traditional foam-filled core with heel-to-toe strings for stiffness. The soft but tacky Pro Cortex Grip will lock the young skater’s hands in place for optimum hand control, and any young skater is sure to love the look of the more exposed black carbon fiber.
The Warrior Covert QR Edge youth hockey stick is the next step in the evolution of the Covert stick line. With all these features, many designed specifically for young players, the QR Edge youth hockey stick is an excellent choice for players just learning the sport.
